his law office over to the grand ju
ry room in the court-house, Mr.
W. F. Hill will occupy Mr. Ed
ward’s office, and in a short while
the Observer will occupy Mr. Hill’s
office, and Mr. J- W. Sumpter’s
furniture store will occupy tho Ob

Much complaint is being made at
present about hard times Several

about the financial pressure now

The Candidates,
Judge T. F. Hill waa re-elected
ordinary by a good majority. Hi*
opponents, Messrs. Moss and Ritch,
either would hav filled the office
with fidelity. But they are now
satisfied the people had r.o objec
tion to Judge Hill, did not propose
an exchange, and are not likely to
for many more elections. Judge
Hill has made them a faithful of
ficer, ’Tis true th# taxes have been
high, but this was caused by the
bridges and other unprovided mat-
tors to the beut interests of tho
county. You now huvo good
es and a good jail. In years past
you had neither. When you hac!

Prof. K. C, Alexander was re*
elected surveyor. No objection
could be found to tin professor; he
has made an accurate surveyor—is
well acquainted with the lines and
sections of the county—besides,
this is an office of great importance,
and should never be changed from
one man to another if avoidable
surveyors have been known to
save heirs in law-suits thousands
of dollars, ©specially in grow.ag

Mr. Smith was elected coroner.
This is an office, glad to say, not.
much needed in this county, but
Mr Smith, if ever called cd, will
