Ojr* After digesting the matter with delibe
ration, the good people of this town and its vi
cinity, have come to an understanding, of giv
ing a check to the many little change bills now
in circulation. We conceive this step to be ho
nest and judicious The ill effects arising from
this heterogenious medium of change, should be
obvious to the most superficial observer, as if
not only gives an undue advantage to individu
als, in as much as they pay no tax for the privi
lege, and being printed on paper of inferior
quality, very few return from whence they
were first issued ; but strangers passing
thro’ the country suffer considerable loss, by
questionable bills being imposed on them,
while remote from home. Some no doubt may
be valid, but it is a sure method to prevent
fraud, by rejecting the whole, dj’ The bills
issued by Wm. Dearing & Cos. payable in this
