—The famous Manhattan lawyer, Na
than Burkan, died suddenly of acute
indigestion at his Long Island country
home today. Burkan was 57 years

ident Roosevelt’s second cousin is on
a honeymoon trip across the contin
ent today.
He is Nicholas Roosevelt, formerly
U. S. Minister to Hungary. His bride
is the former Miss Tirzah Maris
Gates, daughter of a California State
I I Senator. The couple was married late
Friday and left today for a motor car
tour of the country.
FISCH DEMANDS $1,500
FOR TRIAL APPEARANCE
TENTON, June 6 (TP}—The state
of New Jersey received a $1,500 bill
today as an echo of the Lindbergh
kidnap-murder case.
The bill was filed by Pincus Fisch,
who was brought from Leipzig, Ger
many, as a witness against Bruno
Richard Hauptmann. Through the
German Consulate at Washington
Fisch complained that detectives
promised him $1,500, but had given
him only S3O for incidental expenses.

Gillis has just announced his can
didacy in the race to fill the vacancy
left by the death of Congressman
Andrew of Gloucester. There are
no other candidates in the field yet.
Others are expected to file after the
memorial services for Congressman
Andrew who died this week after a
short illness.
