.1 I’haNimt Day.
Wednesday last was regular month
ly meeting of the farmers at their
i club house, about midway between
Harlem ami Appling. The attend
i ance was unusually large and enthu
siastic in the cause of agriculture.—
The day was consumed in the trans
action of business which hail accu
mulated during the past three
months. We failed to have a quorum
in September, and the October meet
ing was called in on account of the
Piedmont Exposition, and, too, al
our November meeting the Constitu
tion provides for the election of ofli-
■ cers for the ensuing year, that con
sumed the afternoon and the discus
sion was deferred until 2n 1 Wednes
day in December. The dinnet was
■ superb ami in lavish abundance, eon - ■
sitting of line fresh fish, delicious ‘
oysters, ham, good bread and coffee. !
Dinner being rather late, together •
with appetites whetted keenly by the
savory smell from the frying pan and
the aroma from the coffee pot, caqs
ed the viands to disappear rapidly.— s
All seemed delighted with the day
and we hope interest will increase and

with the stjenqth of the club and
finally result in a fair next fall to be
held in Harlem that will do honor to
gram! old Columbia and her noble,
intelligent and progressive farmers.
We can do it. “In unity there is
strength.” So let lus pull ' together
and success will crown our efforts. —
The exhibits of Hancock and Monroe
comities were indeed creditable and
shows what industry and enterprise
properly applied will accomplish.—
Wo can compete with those counties.
Wc can raise anything they can and
i our lands arc as susceptible to im
provements and increased yield as
any in Georgia. What we need is
some live man to take the iniatory
ami success: will perch upon our ban
ner. We urge you to rally around
our banner and see to it that it does
not trail in the dust
The election resulted as follows:
M. I. Branch, President; W. I. Tul
ly, Vice-President; D. C. Moore, Sec
retary and G. A. Harris, Treasurer. —•
Executive Committee—Wm. Lane
