tain place on the road leading from
Appling to Mrs Morrows, was so en- ,
tirely misconstrued. Our motive was
a pure one and not based upon any
rumors or intended to reflect upon
any one in the slightest manner. It
was done only in a general way as
would have been the case in any sec
tion of the county.

—Pitts’ Carminative has been used

lent. colic, choleramorbuß, cholera in
fantum and teething children for
more than thirty years. During that
I time it lias not resulted in a single
| failure when t e case was begun in
| time. Moreover babies who have
taken Pitts’ Carminative are always
fat and healthy. Why is this ? Ist.
Because it is pleasant to the taste and
the children will not refuse it. 2nd.
It. promotes digestion and the child is
not weakened by drain from stomach
and bowels. 3rd. It corrects all
acids and keeps the stomach healthy.
Grand Success.
The oyster supper Friday night
last under the auspices of a commit
tee of la lies, composed of Mrs. Bell,
Mrs. Paschal and Mrs. L. V. Hatcher
was a success in all its appointments.
The crowd was immense and readily
consumed all the eatables that were
prepared and twice the quantity
could have been sold. The net in
come was indeed satisfactory and
should induce the ladies to repeat at
early day. When everything in tjjo
way of something to elt had been
consumed the young people, assisted
by some more advanced in years, en
gaged in what is generally known as
“Jay Bird,” “Tucker," etc., to while
away the evening and the enjoyment
was abundant, all expressing them
selves ns highly pleased and looking
forward with pleasure to another oys
ter supper. The committee of ladies
who have so successfully conducted a
series of entertainments in flic inter
est of the new school building, ap
pointed a committee of gentlemen,
composed of Messrs. Bell, Paschal
and Hardy and placed the money
raised in their hands with instruc
tions to expend it in another coat of
paint to be applied at once, which
will add greatly to the already im
posing appearance of this institution
of learning.
