No Invasion Till After Sea Battle.
General Shatter, who is to com¬
mand the first division of the
army of invasion, gave out a posi¬
tive statement this morning to
the effect that no movement on
Cuba would be made until after
the Spanish fleet has been en¬
gaged by the American vessels.
General Shatter’s statement
caused no surprise and will serve
to set at rest rumors which are
started hourly that a sudden
movement may be made, as the
general declared most emphati¬
cally that the army would remain
in Tampa until the expected na¬
val battle has been fought.
