several days in Augusta last week.
Mrs. Jule Bryant returned home
last week, after a lengtlily visit to
relatives at McRae and other
points.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Scruggs will
soon move to the Ballard homo
which has been recently repaired.
Rev. M. S. Williams delivered
two fine sermons last Sunday
morning and evening.

her little news for you.
Rain, rain, rain, the earth in
this part of McDuffie is sure wet,
one more time.
The farmers are devoting their
time to building, fencing, and
clearing*
Oh! ha I cure enough wo nro
going to have a new school house,
no hear say, the carpeutars be
gan today (Monday,) and in a
short while our little town will
have a nice new school house
which has been needed ha long.
Misses Kate Williams and Flor-
ance Drinkard, and Mr. John
Henry Hunt were but driving
Sunday afternoon and gave our
town a short call.
Mr. Robert Willie Dozier and
Miss Lollie Hunt were guests, gf
Miss Varinu Farr Saturday night,
and attended services at Pine
Grove Sunday afternoon, and were
guests of Miss Hattie Lou Adams
for dinner.
Miss Annie Usry was accom
panied home Friday last by Miss
Katie Belle Young and Air. Cliff
Norris’
Mr and Mrs. George Russell of
Thomson, are visiting relatives
and friends in and around this
place at this writing.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Dunaway has been made bright
by the arrival of a fine boy. We
are glad to hear of the mother
progressing nicely but am sorry
the little one quite sick, wliiih
we hope will recover soon.

Grove Sunday.
Only a few from hear had the
pleasure of attending Sabbath
school ut the “Boro” Sunday.
Mr. Boogher Young left a few
days ago for Shady Dale where he
will go into business. Wo all
wish for him much success.
Mr. Jim Russell and Mrs. Nathan
Baston spent Friday with Mrs.
Sam Dunaway, who is with her
mother Mrs. David Adams near
Pine Grove.
Mr. Boogher of Virginia has ar
rived in our town for the remain
der of the winter and is the guest
of his daughter, Mrs. T. R. Young.
Yes; Hannah! it is time I was
raising chickens but I haven’t a
one and the worst thing of all the
minks ate my dear old hen the
first of the full. I am all out of
heart no fried chickens at my
house booh , but come to see me
soon and I shall try and find a
little something to chew.

Sunday school service at Salem,
Mr. G. W May, a devout and
glorious man, is Superintendent
of this school mid I found the
school in a flourishing condition
under his management.
The birthday of Lincoln the
man who put un end to human
slavery in, and preserved the
Union of the United States, was
appropriately celebrated by tho
public school at this place, on
Friday last..
Messrs. G. W. and B. V. Wat
son, C. E. Lokey, and Z. V. John
son made business trips to Au
gusta, during last week.
Mrs. Lucretia and her son, Mr.
John McDonald, of Atlanta, were

Johnson, Friday night last.
Mrs. Jane Simons spent Friday
and Saturday in Thomson.
Mrs. Homer Johnson visited
Grovetown one day last week.
Mr. Joe Fullbright was a visitor
in Boneville during last week.
Mr. W. H. Reeves spent a fow
hours in this place Thursday last.
Mr. Bonner Young made brief
visits to Thomson Saturday and
Monday.
Mrs. B. C. Simons visited
Thomson Thursday.
Miss Dana Smith, of Thomson,
spent the latter part of last week
in Boneville, the guest of Mrs. B.
V. Watson.
Mr. J. T. Rogers, of Deanng,
was the guest of Miss Aunio Si
mons Sunday evening.

paper sure enough. I have for
saken it longer than I ought too,
hut I am going to try to do better
in the future. I am always glad
to see the paper come so L can
read the letters from other good
correspondents. Wake up every
one and lets seo if we can’t do
better, I think we can if we all

We have been having plenty of
rain through this section, but
I hope it will soon clear of! so that
tho farmers can go on w ith their
work.
