Mr. H. A. Price had the Inevitable
experience of an automobilist this v/cek
when his Maxwell went dead on him
in Lincoln County. lie was towed to
Cobb ham, where Mr. L. J. Porter met
him with Ills Cadalnc and brought him
to Thomson where the boys gave him
a good natured jeering reception. Mr.
Price has made a splendid record with

Record Breaking Ear ol Corn.
Mr. J. G. Stovall has been making
some expriments with the Wlllianson
plan of corn raislug this year on Ills
farm near Thomson. The boys
thought they had the joke on kirn
when the corn did not come up to his
expectations, but the C«!anot now lias
it on them. He came to town the eth
er morning biinging with him what
looked like u large ear of corn, but
wlmt was in fact seven eurs of corn in
one shuck. One of the ears was of
ordinary sue and the eigiit small ear,
and all were covered in one shucks
Cop Stovall now proposes to get out
a new variety of corn that will make
Willianson plan look like fifteen cent.
According to announcement two
squads of llremcn jiounded each other
with water last Friday afternoon to the
amusement and delight of 200 Thom
son citizens who gathered to see the
fun. After a tight of 15 minutes a rest
was taken and the two squads ex
changed positions for the seoond con
test.
The umpires gave the victory to
squad No 1 led by Messrs. U, D- Hill
and N. E. Williams. No one was
hurt, the boys furnished rt lot of fun
and got a good cooling un ft hot after
noon.
