WHAT WOMAN'S
CLUB IS DOIIf
The Woman’s Club met Wednesday
afternoon and mapped out the work
for the year. The club now numbers
74 members and expects to accomplish
many things by next spring, which,
through the Kindness of the editor will
be written of and appear from time to
lime in the Progress.
COUNTY FAIR.
Committees were appointed to be at
the grounds Monday, Oct. 13th., to
receive and place all exhibits for the
Woman’s Department. A committee
will be in charge of exhibit each day
of the fair and take pleasure in giving
any necessary information. Members
of the club will be at the Rest Room
each day of the Fair to welcome all
visitors.
FOUNTAIN
The chief work o the club for the
present will be for the public fountain.
October 16!h., Veteran and Woman's
Day, will be observed as Tag Dny tor
the benefit of the fountain. Tags,
carrying on one side a copy of the
Confederate seal and on the other the
Confederate flag, will be pinned on all
who contribute to the fund. .A large
picture of the fountain and monument
will be on exhibition at the fair, to
gether with a list of thesoldiers’ names
to be inscribed thereon, in charge of a
club member, who will give any infor
mation regarding it and also accept any
contributions or subscriptions.
LYCEUM.
Three dates for Lyceum attractions
have been fixed, the others to come
later. The Euclid Male Quartet will
appear Nov. Till., The Potters, Nov.
20th., and the Crescent Concert Co.,
January 20th. A large number of the
season tickets have been delivered. A
floor plan of the auditorium is now in
the hands of the committee and scats
may be reserved.
CEMETERY
Only thirteen subscribers nt 25 cents
per month are needed to assure a sex
ton who will give his entire time to
the cemetery. Anyone who will si b-
seribe or who lias the address of a non
resident section holder who might be
interested, will please communicate
with the chairman, Mrs. Sterling Gib
son,
MPONICA CITY
Among other plans for Arbor Dajr,
the club will ask everyone to plant a
Japonica. Dorothy Perkins roses and
white clematis will be planted to cover
tlie cemetery fence.
CHILDREN HOUR
Beginning with the first Saturday in
November, Children’s hour will be ob
served at the Club Rooms, when Mrs.
Farmer will read to Ihe children of all
ages who care to come, on each Satur
day at 3 p.m. Fairy stories will be
used at first, leading to up the best in
childish literature.
FLOWER CARNIVAL
The Flower Carnival will be held
Not. 13-14- On the evening of the 13th
and the Music section will give a con
cert and on the 14th the Dramatic sec
tion will give a play under the direction
of Mrs. Gerald.
CHRISTMAS BAZAR
A Bazar will he held on December
11 at which will he sold every kind of
article suitable for Christmas gifts,

this matter to Mr. C. A. Wickershan,
General Manager Georgia Railroad, and
lie immediately took it up witli 'Mr.
Jackson, G. F. A., who advised that a
rate of 3 cents pur mile round trip,, for
a radius of 50 miles, would be put on
during your Fair. Mr. Wickersham
appeared to be much interested in your
fair; and asked many questions about
McDuffie and Thomson, and from what
1 can\gather in a general wny, 1 think
he will be very broad and liberal in his
policy towards the towns on the Ga.
road. I intend visiting your fair, and
hope to see a good deal of you boys
during that time.

Bearden’s Brass Band hss been en
gaged and will be on hand every day
during the Fail. This in itself will be
a great treat, as this is one of the finest
bands in Ga.

tion as is on the road.
A 90 foot balloor\ will ascend every
dav during the Fair, and the flyer de-
cend by parachute.
The midway will be crowded with all
kinds of attractions.
