To Celebrate Road
Completion.
Pensacola, Florida, to celebrate
the biggest concrete road building
campaign ever undertaken by a
Southern county, on the 14th of June
is going to hold a big banquet on the
shores of the Gulf of Mexico at the
end of the Pensacola Gulf Beach
Highway, one of the units of the con
crete road program just completed,
which runs from Pensacola to the
very edge of the Gulf, and invitations
to this banquet have been sent to
twenty-five thousand prominent peo
ple over the United States by the
Mayor, City Commissioners and civic
organizations of the city. At the
banquet one of the courses will be
fish chowder made of the famous red
snapper caught from the Gulf of
Mexico.
A glance at the map of the gulf
coast from Key West to Galveston
shows that there is an almost un
broken chain of islands lying a few
miles off shore, which makes it nec
essary to cross bays or lagoons in
tervening before it is possible to
reach the gulf. In a very few cases
the shore line of the mainland touches
the Gulf. The Kiwanis and Rotary
clubs of Pensacola awoke to the fact
that eighteen miles below Pensacola
such a strip of mainland reached the
Gulf, making a peninsula about ten
miles long. Knowing the tremendous
appeal of the Gulf surf public senti
ment caused a budget of one-half
million dollars to be included in the
road building campaign to build a
concrete highway to this point.
This highway gives Pensacola the
distinction of being the only city on
the Gulf between Key West and Gal
veston where automobiles can travel
from the city all the way to the Gulf
surf on a hard surfaced raod. At the
end of the highway concrete parking
spaces overlooking the Gulf have been
constructed to accommodate nearly a
thousand cars, and already, time and
again, these facilities have been in
adequate to care for the crowds of
local people and visitors who have
been attracted to the Gulf Beach.
Since this road has been under
construction the possibilities have
caused several millions of dollars in
development work to be started on
the shore of the Gulf, a $2,000,000
hotel being among others. The devel
opment of these facilities will make
Pensacola one of the most famous and
attractive all-year resorts in America.

SEVERE CRAMPING SPELLS,
PAINS IN BACK AND SIDES
“My trouble has been periodic
S amping spells,” says Mrs. C. C.
raper, of Atlanta, Texas. “For
leveral years these have come on
lie so bad that I had to quit my
Rrork and go to bed. Every
month I would stay in bed from
>ne to two days. The pains in
my back and sides were awful.
“This went on for several
months after I was married un
it, one time when I was having
i bad spell, my husband sug
gested that I try Cardui. I said
! would try it, co he got me a
>ottle at the store and I began
» take it.
“It seemed like I improved
from the very first dose. When
! had taken one bottle I was very
much better. I did not cramp so
lard the next month and I ate
ind slept better. I was not near-
y so nervous, either. I thought
Jardui was fine, so I continued
;he treatment until I had taken
five bottles, at which time I felt
completely well. I had no more
cramping spells at all, and my
health was as good as anybody’s.
I am feeling fine now and I give
all the credit to Cardui, for I
had been suffering for years be
fore I took it.”
Cardui is a vegetable extract, con
taining no harmful ingredients. It is
made from mild-acting medicinal herbs
with a gentle, tonic, strengthening ef
fect upon certain female organs and
ipon the system in general. Its users
>.ave testified to its special value at
the time of entering womanhood at
laturity and at the time of the
change of life.
For over 40 years, Cardui has been
tested in use by thousands of women
who have written ta tell of the great
benefit they have received from it.
For over 600 years, medical authori
ties have recommended one of the
principal ingredients of Cardui in the
treatment of certain female com
plaints.
Cardui, the woman’s tonic, tested by
time, is today the product of many
years of experience and investigation.

Macon, Ga., June 5.—A new course
leading to the decree of bachelor of
science in education is being organiz
ed, by the School of Education of
Mercer University, which will enable

normal training to secure the degree
in two years or six summer quarters.

under which plan the teacher may
concentrate on the type of study that
is to be taught after leaving college,
without unnecessary requirements as
to prescribed work. This change in
the requirements for teachers meets

certificates in the more advanced
states. Credit is allowed for normal
school work.
Those who have not had the two
years of normal work may make this
up in summer quarters. According
to Dean Peyton Jacob, of the Mercer
School of Education, a number of
teachers will begin work on this de
gree with the summer quarter, which
will be in session June 16 to August
30. Over twenty students are ex
pected to do work toward Master’s
degrees in the summer session. Up
ward of five hundred students will
attend in, all.
