Washington Letter.
ROOSEVELT SCARED.
Mr. Roosevelt is so badly scared
at the sweeping campaign that
the Democrats are making that
it is all the Republican leaders
can do to keep him off the stump
A majority of the Republican
leaders hold that if Roosevelt
should go on the stump it would
indicate the dreadful panic that
actually exists among Republi¬
cans. Their fright and dismay
they are trying to keep to them¬
selves, but the public understands
quite well how badly frighteued
they are.
BANK GUARANTEEING.
Mr. Taft seems to think, or
tries to think, that the proposi¬
tion of ,Mr. Bryan to guarantee
the money of depositors is but
little short of anarchy. Now,
Mr. Taft’s plan is for the govern¬
ment to establish postal savings
banks. By this means, which he
proposes, the depositor will take
his money to the postoffice and
have it entered in his book like
the bank, and the money that the
postoffice receives from the de¬
positor will be deposited in the
national banks of the country.
Here is where Mr. Taft’s argu¬
ment is torn to tatters and rid¬
dled to shreds. After the post
office has received this money
from the people they do not turn
one dollar of that money over to
the banks until they have a guar¬
antee that every dollar will be re¬
turned to the government. Now,
if the government demands a
guarantee before they will de¬
posit their own money in a na¬
tional bank, why should not the
depositor have a guarantee when
he deposits his all in the bank ?
It is a well known fact that the
different banks that the govern¬
ment designates as depositories
in which the government funds
are deposited for the benefit of
circulation guarantee every dol¬
lar of it. Now, why should not
the individual, as well as the
government, be guaranteed ? This
all goes to show that the Repub¬
licans have no plea to make to
the people, and that they have
been unable to answer any of the
Democratic arguments.

other medicines. It is better than

The readers of this paper will be
plejsed to learn that there is at least
one dreaded disease that science has
been able to cure in all its stages,
and that is catarrh. Hall’s Catarrh
Cure is the only positive cure now
known to the medical frat -rnity.
Catarrh being a constitutional dis¬
ease, requires a constitutional treat¬
ment. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is taken
internally, acting directly upon the
blood and mucous surfaces of the
system, thereby destroying the foun¬
dation of the disease, and giving the
patient strength by building up the
constitution and assisting nature in
doing its work. The proprietors
have so much faith in its ourative
powers that they offer One Hundred
Dollars for any case that it fails to
cure. Send for list of testimonials.
