will doubtless discharge the duties of

Col. H. II. Jones, of the Savannah
Morning News editorial staff, spent
three days of this week in the city.
He seemed s>-veral subscribers to his
reliable maiumoili paper while here,
and will give its readers a full ue-
count of our thriving and growing
town. •
Second Week of Court.
Tho second week of the adjourned
term of Laurens superior court will
probably adjourn tomorrow evening.
I’he grand jury have about complet
ed their business and it ii likely that
that body will not meet after this
afternoon'ssession. Despite the ef
forts of one or two lawyers, whose
cades were unprepared, to induce
Judge Kibbee not to hold the court,
lie, believing that tho taxpayers were
entitled to a voice in the premises,
has been running it now for eight
da vs, and an immeitso amount of
work has been dispatched. The
criminal docket.was taken upon the
first of the week and a good many
eases have been cleared from the
locket, with a good many convict
ions. The citizens are highly Prati
fied at Judge Ribbon’s refusing to
adjourn court nntil tho regular
January term.
Accommodation Ncoded.

facilities for crossing at night. There
is only one butteau in use and it
matters not how urgent tho case

boat are both on this side, s the
ferryman lives too far on this side to
hear one calling. We have in mind
instance where a runner was
started for a doctor sometime dur-
ng tho night and was compelled to
wait on the opposite hank till after
lavbreok on account of not being
able to cross, and which ss likely to
bo, so the physician stales, the
indirect cause of Lite loss of life. If
the ferry was supplied with boats it.
would part,ally remedy the incon
venience to which those living on.

projectors informed us yesterday that
it would be finished within two
woeKs at the outside. At tho pres
ent outlook it will not be very many
days before the ear will ho running,
thus giving our people an accommo
dation that no town of Dublin’s size
can boast of.
