Nolld liroiizo iiftvw looked more etho-
;ri»t than when, on tlin afiornooti of

drew near, thi'ouifli. tho Imr.y rain, to
the statue on Liberty Island. A dusky
Mm reared itsulf against the pallid sky,
Jfke a shadow east upon a transparency.
Jt seemed as unsubstantial as a vision,
though its oh Hines were full of gran
deur and repose. Approached more
closely, s tliu great form slowly sol id i lied
unci towered higher and higher aloft,
ns if it were drifting towards u.s
through the sea-fog, a mysterious
daughter of the ocean, becoming Incar
nate while wo gazed upon her. And
when, at length, we lay within the
swoop, as It were, of her uplifted arm,
and could distinguish tho folds and
fall of her garments, and apprehend
tho pose of her majestic figure, the
spell of wonder and silence 'descended
upon ns, children of Liberty as we
were, standing for tbc first time, in the
presence of our mighty mother.
Tills statue is certainly the outcome
of a sublime imagination, working for
noble ends. There lk, It* Is true, a
brutal sort of Impressiveness ju gigan
tic size alone; but in this work tho
design is of such quality that even the
miniature models, which have become
so familiar to Now Yorkers, nrr«at the
attention by their dignity. There is
nothing small in tho treatment: the
lines ami composition arc vast in their
quality, as well as in their dimensions
- vast and simple. The conception is
us great as tjic accomplished reality,
.it is a thing which takes its place
'quietly and naturally in the midst of
,t)ie broad scene of which itlstluicul-

though it ivwch, it does uot astonish;
once in its place, it seems to have stood
thoro singe the dawn of time, Title rain
and mists were its friends and familars;
'hud the sunshine will rust upon it as
f'.ltlngly as upon tho peak of a iriouu-
i in, and the clouds, at noon anftsuu-
i c.t. will form a part of its grandeur, or
; iorlfy it with their crimson and. gold.
When the thunder rolls across the bay,
those lofty lips will seem to have
spoken, and the snow of winter will
drift around It like n drifting veil.

They are widely known, how

Many were discovered by acci

the result of patient experiment,

Nervous Dyspepsia is a com

out of the conditions of modern
life. It is a joint affection of
tho digestive organs and of the
nervous system. These two
were formerly treated as sepa

for the plefU’-sighied Shakers
to prove that the basis of this
