EPIPHANY SUNDAY CELEBRATED AT HOnER UmC
Homer United Methoidist Church celebrated the arrival of the magi in Bethlehem last Sunday on
a day commonly referred to as Epiphany Sunday among most Christian denominations through
out the world. Here, three "wise men” are seen bowing before the manger presenting to the
Christ child their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrr. After worshipping the newborn King, they
returned to their own land in the East, according to gospel accounts. "Epiphany brings to a close
the most majestic season of the year,” said church leaders, "which always begins with Advent
and preparation for the coming of the Messiah which Christians believe is Jesus Christ.”
