4 Menopause the Musical* returns
After 635 performances from April 2005 - February
2007 made it the longest-running musical in Atlanta history,
“Menopause the Musical” is coming back to Atlanta for a
limited-time engagement at the 14th Street Playhouse.
Performances begin on Feb. 22 and will be held through
mid-April. Performances are Wednesdays through Sundays,
with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2
p.m. and evening performances on Wednesdays, Thursdays
and Fridays at 8 p.m. and on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. An
additional, one-time Sunday evening show will be featured
at 5:30 p.m. on February 24.
Tickets for all performances are $42.50 and can be pur
chased at the theatre box office, by calling 404-733-4750

This musical has been entertaining and educating women
from coast-to-coast for more than five years. From the work
of writer Jeanie Linders, the musical is a 90-minute produc
tion, which includes re-lyricized tunes from the 60’s and
70’s.
“Menopause the Musical” features a cast all returning
from the original Atlanta production with Gainesville’s
Ingrid Cole as Earth Mother, Atlanta’s Mary Kathryn Kaye
(Suzi Bass Award nominee for Respect) as Iowa Housewife,
Scottdale’s Valerie Payton (Suzi Bass Award nominee for
Romeo & Juliet) as Professional Woman, and Jonesboro’s
Lynna Schmidt as Soap Star. The Menopause band will
again be conducted by Suzi Bass nominee Dale Grogan,
known for over 25 years of experience in the Atlanta musical
theater scene.
Payton is excited to be returning to Atlanta.

cast, crew and band and Atlanta has the best audiences. They

“Menopause the Musical,” which debuted in a 76-seat the
atre in Orlando, Fla., has become an international women’s
movement, playing in more than 40 U.S. cities and 12 coun
tries. With more than 9 million viewers and almost 50,000
audience members each week, women and men of all ages
and stages of life find their spirits lifted by the show’s light
hearted look at menopause.

Tree House auction ahead March 14
The Tree House will hold its 10th annual “A Night of
Hope for the Children” live and silent auction on Friday,
March 14.
The Tree House’s mission is to strengthen communities
by reducing the occurrence and impact of child abuse
through counseling, educating, supporting and nurtur
ing children and families in Barrow, Banks and Jackson
counties.
The auction will include a number of items up for sale
to the highest bidder.
“One such item up for bid is a Walt Disney World vaca
tion,” said Meg Loggins, outreach coordinator. “There is
even a romantic getaway to the mountains. All the money
raised goes to help the Tree House.”
The Disney trip includes a four-night stay at the Pop
Culture Hotel and a five-day park hopper pass for a fam
ily of four.
Other items will include signed Georgia Bulldogs mem
orabilia, an Atlanta summer fun basket and a Tennessee
get-away basket. Additional items may include Atlanta
Braves memorabilia.
A Harley-Davidson Fatboy will be raffled off that night.
Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased at The Tree
House, Cycle World of Athens, Barrow County Sheriff’s
Office, Winder Fire Department or Barrow County Fire.
Tickets are $10 each.
“Every year it amazes me how great the community is
with their generosity and support.” said Loggins. “I am
truly hoping that this year will be no different.”

On Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 9:00 A. M., the Banks County Republican Party will
convene Precinct Mass Meetings to elect Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the Banks
County Republican Party Convention. The County Convention will convene at 10:00 A. M.
on March 15, 2008 at the same location to elect Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the
Congressional District Convention and the State Convention. The purpose of the
Congressional District Convention is to elect three Delegates and three Alternates to the
2008 Republican National Convention to be held in St. Paul, Minnesota beginning on
September 1, 2008.
Both the Precinct Mass Meetings and County Convention will be held at the Banks
County Courthouse, 144 Yonah-Homer Road in Homer, Georgia.
All Banks County residents who are legally registered to vote and believe in the
principles of the Republican Party are urged to participate in this process.
The 10th Congressional District Convention will convene on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at
10:00 A. M. at the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Conference Center, 1197
Lumpkin Street in Athens, Georgia.
The Georgia Republican Party State Convention will convene on Friday, May 16, 2008, in
Columbus, Georgia and will elect 30 Delegates and Alternates at Large to the 2008
Republication National Convention.
Registration and participation at Precinct Mass Meetings, County
Convention, District Convention or State Convention is not allowed after
the event’s designated start time.

dened to hear of the death of
Howard McClure Sr. He was
a lifetime member of our com
munity. He was the oldest of five
generations. He will be greatly
missed by his family and host of

meet in the survivor’s tent for food

Banks County bus drivers collecting funds
This year, the Banks County bus drivers have a
Relay for Life team. They have decided to take dona
tions on their buses for the Relay for Life Feet Prints.
The kids can donate any amount of money and get a
foot. They get to decorate the feet and put it up on the
buses. They have already collected over $300.
