Lucas Chey Thomas
Rodney Chey Thomas and Justina
Dee Thomas, Jefferson, announce the
birth of a son, Lucas Chey Thomas, on
March 17, 2008, at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center, Gainesville.
He joins siblings Corbin Howington,
10; Sierra Arnold, 7; Cole and Dylan
Thomas, 4; and Lee Howington, 2.
The grandparents are Lisa Watson,
Maysville; Bobby Hagan Jr., Arcade;
and Rod and Marian Thomas,
Watkinsville.
Great-grandparents are Tom and
Cleta Noller, Maysville; Bob Sr. and Charolette Hagan, Danielsville; Billy
Thomas, High Shoals; and Harry and Betty Elliott, Comer.

Select Commerce have each been pre
sented with the RE/MAX Executive
Club Award that honors successful
real estate agents nationwide within
the RE/MAX network. The Award
is given to agents this year who
have commissions earned between
$50,000 and $99,900.
These agents have been working
with buyers, sellers, builders and
investors for many years and have
extensive experience in the real
estate industry.

and are more than deserving of this
very prestigious award,” said Sherrard

Commerce. “Winning this award

T-shirtdesigncontestannounced
The Maysville Public Library is
seeking artwork from local artists
ages 5 to 16 for a library T-shirt
design contest.
The contest ends May 8. The win
ner will be chosen by Friends of the
Library and will receive a free T-shirt
and a gift card. Submit designs to
Stacy or Betty at the library.
No profanity or advertising drugs,
alcohol or tobacco will be accepted
in designs.
Submissions should include the
artist’s name, telephone number or
address and a parent’s name on the
back.
Mr. Gordon, Miss Morris to marry May 3
Melvin Morris, Lula, announces
the engagement and forthcoming
marriage of his daughter Jessie Rose
Morris, to William Micheal Gordon,
son of Mike and Peggy Gordon,
Commerce.
The bride-elect is the daughter
of the late Cynthia Louise Morris.
She is the granddaughter of Martha
Morris, Alto, and the late Rev. WS
Morris, and Louise and Ed Hardin,
Alpharetta, and the late Gene
Williams.
Miss Morris is a former Banks
County High School student. She
is an employee at Picture People,
Buford, as a photographer.
The future groom is the grandson
of Betty Gene Gordon, Commerce,
and the late William Gordon, and
the late Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Meeks.
Mr. Gordon is also a former stu
dent of Banks Co High School.
He is a student at the University of
Georgia in Athens as a psychology
major.
They will be united in marriage
at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at
the Community House, Cornelia.
A reception will follow at the
Community House. All friends and
family are invited.
Mr Jasper, Miss Jordan plan April 19 wedding
Thomas and Marylyn Jordan of
Canon announce the engagement
and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Alica Leanne Jordan, to
Jon Thomas Jasper, son of Wayne
and Mary Rennels of Commerce
and Thomas and Mary Jasper of
Paisley, Fla.
The wedding will be Saturday,
April 19, at 3 p.m. in the amphi
theater at Hurricane Shoals Park,
Maysville. A reception will follow
at Pavilion 4. In the event of rain, the
wedding will be held in the historic
Miles Wilson Matthews Chapel,
located in the Heritage Village at
the park.
The bride is the granddaughter
of Charlie and Blanche Jordan,
Royston; the late Edwin and Margaret
Tolbert, formerly of Lavonia; the
late Jethro Burrell, formerly of Mt.
Airy; and Jerry and Grace Ledford,
Clarkesville. She is the great-grand
daughter of Max and Dorothy King,
Alto.
Miss Jordan is a 2008 graduate of
Hart County High School.
Mr. Jasper is the grandson of
Jon and Sally Aiuto, Port Sanilac,
Mich.; Billy Joe and Phyllis Jasper,
Lewistown, Penn.; the late John
Baker and George and Lydia Stake,
Port Royal, Penn.
He is a 2004 graduate of Franklin
County High School and a former
United States Marine. He is employed
by Mayfield Dairy, Braselton.
'The Lion King' coming up this weekend

Disney’s “The Lion King” will be
presented at the Atlanta Civic Center
April 3 through May 4.
Ticket prices range from $22.50
to $132.50 for VIP seating, which
includes the best seats in the house,

Gillsville Golf
Tournament
coming up
Friends of Gillsville, a local non
profit (501c3) community organiza
tion founded in 2004, has announced
plans for the third annual Friends of
Gillsville Golf Tournament to be
held at Hammer’s Glen Golf Club
in Homer on Saturday, April 26, at
9 a.m., with a shotgun start.
Player fees are $100 per person
which covers green fees, 1/2 cart,
practice range, awards and box
lunch. Prizes will be awarded for
lowest team score (1st and 2nd
place), longest drive and closest to
pin, plus door prizes.
Funds raised will support the col
lege scholarship program for stu
dents at Banks County High School
and East Hall High School.

scenic design is by Richard Hudson,
costume design is by Julie Taymor
and lighting design is by Donald
Holder. The book has been adapted
by Roger Allers, who co-directed
the animated film and Irene Mecchi,
who co-wrote the screenplay for
“The Lion King.”
The score features Elton John and
Tim Rice’s music from the animated
film along with three new songs
by John and Rice, additional musi
cal material by South African Lebo
M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie
Taymor and Hans Zimmer. The
Atlanta engagement of “The Lion
King” is presented by arrangement
with Broadway Across America-
Atlanta.
