HOMER METHODIST TO CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN
SUNDAY
Homer United Methodist Church will celebrate Native American
Awareness Sunday, April 6, at both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. wor
ship services. Christy Gibson of Cornelia, member of the church
and six nations Seneca of the Wolf Clan, Iroquois nation, will be
in full native dress when she addresses both morning congrega
tions. Closely following the liturgical calendar, the pastor, the
Rev. Jim McLendon, will preach on an Easter season theme,
While Walking to Emmaus (St. Luke 24:13-35). The church's
Chancel Choir will sing. Homer Methodist is located in down
town Homer one block east of the recently renovated Veterans
Memorial Park.
New Salem UMC
movie night planned
New Salem United Methodist
Church will have a movie night on
Wednesday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. in
the fellowship hall of the church.
“Everyone is welcome to come
and bring a friend to watch ‘Facing
the Giants’,” said church leaders.
Popcorn and drinks will be pro
vided.

Hwy. 59, in Commerce.
Musketeers 19th year
singing anniversary
The Musketeers will celebrate
their 19th singing anniversary at
Flat Creek Baptist Church Sunday,
April 6 at 2:30 p.m.
Various choirs and groups will
participate in the program. Everyone
is invited to attend.

Level Road, Commerce.

Chickenque set at
New Salem UMC
On Saturday, April 5, New
Salem United Methodist Church,
Commerce, will hold a chickenque.
Meals will be served from noon
to 6 p.m. Meals will be eat in or
take out. Tickets are $6 and are
available through church members
or by calling the church office at
706-335-4401 and leaving a mes
sage.
The meal includes half of a fresh
hickory smoked chicken, chips, slaw
and a slice of homemade pound
cake.
“Come enjoy a great meal and fun
and fellowship with members of the
community,” organizers said.
Homer UMC Sunday
night at the movies
Homer United Methodist will
present “Sunday Night at the
Movies,” a new program, which
begins with dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday,
April 6, and concludes with a DVD
presentation by Andy Stanley called
“Breakaway.” Childcare will be pro
vided. Future sessions in the six ses
sion series are scheduled for April
20, May 4, May 18, June 8 and June
22. The public is invited to attend.

Brotherhood Sunday
breakfast program
Community Brotherhood will
hold its monthly breakfast pro
gram Sunday, April 6, at 7:30 a.m.
in the fellowship hall at Homer
United Methodist Church. The Rev.
Roy Rogers is president. Brandon
Brown, a local young adult com
mitted to Christ for future fulltime
Christian service, will speak. Homer
Methodist is located at the corner of
Sycamore and Church streets and
the breakfast is held in the church’s
family life center.
Upcoming ladies
retreat and concert
Refuge Baptist Camp will hold
a “ladies retreat” entitled “I’m A
Survivor” on Saturday, April 12
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The guest speaker isAnn Downing,
Nashville, Tenn., a well-known gos
pel singer and Dove Award winner.
Registration is $25 and it is open
to all ladies. A free evening concert
will be held from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and
is open to the public.
Widow’s Hope Ministry is spon
soring the events.

Restoration World Outreach
Center announces new service
times. Sunday services are now 10
a.m. and 6:45 p.m. with “Kingdom
Dynamics” at 6 p.m. Wednesday
services are at 7 p.m.

Food offered to needy
Two area churches are joining
hands in a partnership with the Food
Bank of Northeast Georgia for a
food distribution on Wednesdays,
from 6-8 p.m.
Warren Chapel United Methodist
Church and Mt. Pleasant Christian
Methodist Episcopal Church will
help distribute food at Warren
Chapel’s fellowship hall, located at
468 Homer Road, Commerce.

'Rent a table' yard
sale planned April 12
St. Mary Catholic Church, Toccoa,
is sponsoring a “rent-a-table” yard
sale on Saturday, April 12, from 8
a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Come sell your trash and trea
sures at our ‘rent-a-table (or space)’
yard sale,” organizers said.

Outreach celebration
Restoration World Outreach
Center will hold a “second year
anniversary” celebration on Sunday,
April 13.
The celebration begins with the 10
a.m. worship service, at 5 p.m. an
“anniversary Dinner Luau” will be

held at 6:45 p.m.

Ladies banquet
planned April 24
Glory Baptist Church WMU is
hosting a Ladies Banquet Thursday,
April 24, at the First Georgia Bank
Community Room in Homer,
Georgia at 6:30 pm.

catered dinner by Sweet Sensations,
music provided by Janell Roberts
and door prizes.

Michelle Sterling, of Lawrenceville.

century bike ride
Lula Assembly of Praise Church
will hold its 5 th Annual LAP Century
Bike Ride on Saturday, May 10.
The ride will begin at 8 a.m., rain
or shine.
Entry fees are $25 for pre-reg-

of the ride. Pre-registration ends
April 25.

tour planned April
