The healing power of words
Her marriage was falling apart but
there was something ironic about this
situation. She and her hus
band were both in ministry.
She was at her wits end and
that is when God began to
speak to her.
I was lucky enough to
hear Michelle Davenport
speak at a Women’s
Conference. As she spoke
about what the Lord did in
her relationship with her
husband, she encouraged
us to believe God for any
situation in our lives that
needs a change.
She said the Lord told her to begin
to speak life into her marriage. Even
though she didn’t see a miracle right
away with her physical eye, she began
to say, “Thank you, Lord, for my hus
band being the spiritual leader of the
home.” “Thank you, Lord, that my
home is heaven on earth.”
As the months passed, the Lord
began the healing process and that was
19 years ago. She began to practice
what she heard and it changed her life.
Today, she has a healthy marriage,
a beautiful daughter, and a ministry
where she encourages people by shar
ing what the Lord has done for her.
Proverbs 18:21 says death and life
are in the power of the tongue. What
a powerful statement. Of course it’s
power; it is the word of God. Words
are powerful. In Genesis 1:3, God
spoke this world into existence. In
Matthew 17:20, we read about faith. If
tells us if we have the faith of a grain
of mustard seed, we shall speak to the
mountain and it shall move. Nothing
shall be impossible.
So what does this mean for us
today? I’m sure there are situations
and circumstances in your life that
you would like to change. If you have
a relationship that is in shambles start
thanking God for restoring
the relationship. Are there
issues with your health?
Begin to thank God that you
are walking in health.
What about your dreams?
Many times we have things
that we want to do and
before we know it, days turn
to months and months turn
into years without us ever
fulfilling that dream. Get
that dream off the shelf. I
know people who are stuck
in dead end jobs and long to
start a new career. Begin to thank God
for your new job, in a place where you
love to work.
Sometimes these situations will turn
around overnight and others will take
time. We serve a mighty God where
nothing is impossible. Keep the faith
and continue to speak life into your
situations and He will make a way.
Let’s remember the story of Abraham
in the book of Genesis. He and Sarah
were very old when God told him
that they would have a child. Did
you know it was several years later
before this dream came to pass? Once
Abraham heard the news, he had the
faith to see it come to pass. Listen
to Romans 4:20, a passage talking
about Abraham. He staggered not at
the promise of God through unbelief;
but was strong in faith, giving glory
to God.
Today begin to speak positive things
into your life, go ahead and thank
God for them in advance, and keep
the faith.
