Anna Garrison receives honors at GSC BCHS juniors, seniors invited to Brenau
Anna Garrison, Lula, has
received two honors, accord
ing to Gainesville State
College (GSC).
Garrison was recently named
to the All USA Academic
Team and was received the
“Outstanding Traditional
Student” award at GSC.
The All-USA Academic
Team is an international com
petition co-sponsored by Phi
Theta Kappa, USA TODAY
and the American Association
of Community Colleges. Each
year, GSC nominates two rep
resentatives from each campus
to participate in the program,
which annually recognizes 60
outstanding two-year college
students.
To be eligible, a student must
post a minimum 3.25 cumulative
GPA and be eligible to graduate
with an associate degree.

Student” award, Garrison was
described as “an extremely dedi
cated, hard-working, and highly
motivated student. She is a phe-
nomenal student and a young
woman of great character and
integrity.”
After graduating from
GSC, Garrison plans to enter
the School of Mechanical
Engineering at the Georgia
Institute of Technology in
the fall. She will be trans
ferring through the Regents
Engineering Transfer
Program (RETP).
Garrison plans to pursue a
minor in biomedical engineer
ing. She serves as the presi
dent of the GSC Engineering
Club and is active in a variety
of campus clubs including
- Math Club, Future Health
Professionals, Students for
Environmental Awareness,
Recreational Outdoor Experience
(ROX) and Physics Club.
Brenau University officials are providing a meal
in their campus dining hall for all Banks County
juniors and seniors. The trip will be Thursday,
April 24, from 4-6 p.m.
Guest speakers will be Jerry Boling and Tara
Fulcher from the Banks County Chamber of
Commerce. There will be no charge and trans
portation will be provide to and from Brenau. All

Educators may submit announcements and pho
tos for school-related activities to MainStreet
Newspapers.
Each photo should be clear and in focus, and
include a description of the events happening in
the photo. Photos of poor quality may not be pub
lished. Educators are asked to submit no more than
two quality photos for each event.
Photos should not be attached to a Microsoft
Word document, but attached within an e-mail.
When using a digital camera, please ensure the
camera is set at a medium quality setting to pro
duce the best quality photos. Photos taken at a low
resolution may not publish well.
The first and last names of those shown in the
photo, including adults, must be submitted. Please
ensure that all names are spelled correctly.
Educators may also submit announcements, such
as special events and learning activities.
Honor rolls and perfect attendance lists may also
be submitted according to the format preferred by
MainStreet Newspapers.
School news will be published according to avail
able space.

SURPLUS PROPERTY

The Banks County Commissioners will hold a
surplus property auction on Saturday, April 19,
at 9:00 a.m. beginning at the Road Maintenance
Shop located at 457 Oscar Rucker Rd.
Items to be auctioned include various vehicles

obtain a copy of your medical record. Medical records
of patients who have not been seen in over 10 years will

storage facility after this date.
