41 sentenced in Superior Court

Youth coach pleads guilty to child molestation
Matthew Allen Wyrick, 23, pled
guilty Wednesday, May 14, in
Banks County Superior Court on
two charges of child molestation
stemming from an incident in 2006
involving two county teenagers.

Six people were arrested at a
Commerce address for drug-relat
ed charges, Banks County sheriff
Charles Chapman said.
The arrests occurred last Friday
following the obtaining of a search
warrant for the residence at 1876
Duncan Road in the Commerce side
of Banks County.
Arrested and charged last week
were:
A dispute between a man and
his wife was one of several
domestic-related incidents the
Banks County Sheriff’s Office
responded to during the past two
weeks.
The BCSO received a call from
a Historic Homer Highway, Alto,
resident who said he and wife had
been involved in an argument.
Both parties said the argument
was not physical although the
report indicated both individuals
were intoxicated.
The man reportedly wanted his
wife to “come to the kitchen” but
she was rocking their grandchild.
Both parties agreed all was “OK”
and nothing else was “gonna hap
pen cause they were going to
bed.”

Wyrick was sentenced to serve
eight years in jail and given 13 years
probation.
He was also ordered to have no
contact with the victims or any mem
bers of their families and to comply

Bruce Lee Gossett, 24 and William
Vincent Heard, 18.
Charges the four face include:
•Duncan: sale of marijuana,
sale of oxycodone, possession of
marijuana with intent to distribute
and possession of oxycodone with
intent to distribute.
•Charles Edward Bryant, 63, sale
of oxycodone, possession of oxy
codone with intent to distribute,
possession of soma with intent to
distribute, possession of oxycodone
and possession of xanax.
•Alexander “Andy” Justin Bryant,
17, sale of oxycodone, possession
of marijuana with intent to distrib
ute, possession of marijuana (less
than one ounce) and possession of
firearm during commission of a

possession or marijuana, 12 months
probation and $750 fine.

violation, failure to maintain lane,

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office reported 13
arrests during the past week including the fol
lowing:
•William Donald Cotton, 55, 193 Myrtle Street,
Cornelia, DUI (alcohol) and excessive speeding.
•Thomas Lee Gannon, 20, 105 Cedar Drive,
Alto, possession of marijuana (less than one
ounce) and probation violation.
•John Darwin Gesford, 34, 137 Dusty Creek
Lane, Homer, simple battery (Family Violence
Act).
•Carmen Hernandez, 33, Sierra Vista, Cornelia,
driving without a license and failure to maintain
proper lane.
