BCHS SENIOR RECOGNIZED
Homer United Methodist Church lay leader, Chris Erwin,
is seen presenting a plaque to Banks County High 2008
graduate, Jay Harn of Alto, describing the teen as "a shin
ing light of courage for all to see and follow.” Permanently
paralyzed in a Putnam County hunting accident during the
summer of 2005, Jay has been characterized by 135 gradu
ates as the "inspiration” of their class. Superintendent of
Banks County schools, Mr. Erwin, spoke highly of Jay during
special Memorial Day weekend services at Homer Methodist
and read a letter from BCHS head track coach Rob Moffet.
Jay recently competed in the state track meet in Jefferson,
wheelchair division, where he captured two state titles, win
ning both the 200 and 800 meter races.
