Ralph Hoose
Ralph Hoose, 76, of Baldwin, died
Monday, June 30, 2008, at Kindred
Hospital, following an extended ill
ness.
Born in Middelburg, N.Y., on April
30, 1932, he was the son of the late
Leonard and Myrtle Caulkins Hoose.
He attended Clarkesville Church of
God, and was preceded in death by
a grandson, Joshua Hoose; and sev
eral brothers and sisters. He enjoyed
word search puzzles, automotive
repair and was also very musically
inclined, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife,
Katherine Laymon Hoose, Baldwin;
a daughter, Diane Hoose, West Exter,
N.Y.; sons, Ralph Hoose Jr., Pensacola,
Fla., Eugene Hoose, Brookfield, N.Y.,
Kirk Hoose, West Edmeston, N.Y.,
Kenneth Hoose, Keith Hoose and
Kevin Hoose, all of Baldwin; sister,
Gigner Diggs, Ohio; 21 grandchil
dren; and 12 great-grandchildren,

Myrl Sprinkles
Myrl Monree Sprinkles, 83, of
Nicholson, died Monday, July 7,
2008, at her residence.
She was born in Towns County,
the daughter of the late Ranzey and
Este Eller. She was a member of the
New Hope Baptist Church and was
a retired nurse. Mrs. Sprinkles was
preceded in death by her husband,
Tommie Lee Sprinkles.
Survivors include sons, Roger
Sprinkles, Nicholson, and Lanier
Sprinkles, Jacksonville, Fla.; sister,
Flo Carter, Winterville; six grandchil
dren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike
Stowers officiating. Burial was at
Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.

Debra Ann Oliver, 50, of
Commerce, died Tuesday, July 1,
2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville.
She was born in Roanoke County,
Va., was a member of Gillsville
Baptist Church and was employed
as a manager with Kroger.
Survivors include her husband,
John T. Oliver; sons, Christopher
Jennings Clark and Edward Lawson

residence.

Wilda Mae Segars Watson, 86, of
Canon, died Friday, July 4, 2008,
at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in
Royston.
She was born in Banks County on
July 28, 1922, the daughter of the
late John Harrison and Emmie Mae
Wood Segars. She was a homemaker
and was Baptist. Mrs. Watson was
preceded in death by her husband,
James F. Watson; six brothers; and
one sister.
Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, James H. “Butch”
and Libby Watson, Canon; daughters
and sons-in-law, Catherine Watson
and Jim Bowen, Lincolnton, Rebecca

Mary Duncan
Mary Helen Duncan, 77, of Ila, died
Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Athens
Regional Medical Center in Athens.
She was born in Madison County,
the daughter of the late O.T. and
Sarah Zeffrey Collins Duckworth.
She was a member of Harmony
Christian Church and was a home
maker. Mrs. Duncan was preceded
in death by a son, William Arthur
Duncan.
Survivors include a son, Bobby
Duncan, Commerce; daughters,
Connie Swain, Commerce, and
Mary Jane Ledford, Ila; brother, J.T.
Duckworth, Seneca, S.C.; five grand
children; and four great-grandchil
dren.

Gisela Darlene Light, 48, of
Demorest, died Wednesday, July 2,
2008.
Born in Weisbadan, Germany, on
April 3, 1960, she was the daugh
ter of Robert and Anna Bell Dean
Lunsford of Demorest. She was a
member of Macedonia Baptist
Church. She enjoyed spending time
with her children and grandchildren,
whom she dearly loved, loved ones
stated.
Survivors in addition to her par
ents, include daughters and sons-
in-law, Christina and Ted Dodd
and Stephanie and Jeremy Coker,
all of Alto; sisters and brothers-
in-law, Brenda and Larry Sutton,

Robert Bobby Payne, 74, of Winder,

Born in Jackson County, he was
the son of the late Clyde O. and
Mary Standridge Payne. He was
the owner of Payne Construction
Company and was a member of
Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Mr.
Payne was preceded in death by
a son, Stephen Morris Payne; and
brother, Monroe Payne.
Survivors include his wife, Edna

daughter-in-law, Mitch and Lisa
Payne, Winder; grandchildren, Kelley
Deaton and Jill and Josh Payne;
great-grandchildren, Anna Deaton

Charlotte Waldo Sisk, 74, died
Sunday, July 6, 2008, surrounded
by family and friends, at St. Mary's
Hospice House in Athens, following
a long battle with cancer.
She was the

Wilson Waldo and
was employed by
Mayfield Dairy
in Braselton. Mrs.
Sisk was preced
ed in death by
a sister, Bonnie
Bird Waldo; brother, William Slaton
Waldo; and son, Steven Michael

February 7, 1913, she was the daugh
ter of the late Henry and Marietta
Yearwood Edmonds. She was a
homemaker and member of Alto
Baptist Church. Mrs. Ansley was
preceded in death by her husband,
Robert Andrew Ansley; daughter,
Clara Lanier; brothers, Clyde, Frank
and John Edmonds; sisters, Ruth

Jerry Carian
Jerry Carian, 57, of Homer, died
Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his residence,
following an extended illness.
He was the son of the last Asbury
and Nina Carian and was a member
of the Bethany Christian Church. He
was retired from the Department of
Transportation after 34 years of ser
vice and was a member of Phi Delta
Lodge #148 of Homer. Mr. Carian
was preceded in death by brothers,
Jimmy Carian and Fred Carian; and
a sister, Helen McKinney.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis
June Carian, Homer; sisters, Linda
Hanley, Ila, and Mary Ann Galloway,
Homer; brother, Horace Carian,
Commerce; several nieces and neph
ews; special little great-niece, Lexi
Ausburn; and many other family and
friends.

Boley Culberson McGinnis, 81, of
Danielsville, died Saturday, July 5,
2008, at his residence.
Born in Jackson County, he was
the son of the late Young and Lillie
Mae McGinnis. He was a member
of the Wesley Chapel Methodist
Church and was a
retired carpenter. He
was preceded in death
by his wife, Selena
Morgan McGinnis.
Mr. McGinnis was a veteran, having
served in the United States Army.
Survivors include daughters, Lillie
Kay McGinnis and Debbie Williams,
both of Danielsville; sisters, Annette
Williams and Merdele Joyce, both of
Commerce; three grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Chambers James, 88, of
Clarkesville, died Friday, July 4,
2008, following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on February
27, 1920, she was the daughter of
the late John Henry and Jessie
Chambers. She was a member of the
Alley's Chapel United Methodist
Church and was a homemaker, Mrs.
James was preceded in death by her
husband, Jesse Harold James.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Helen and Steve Seabolt,
Clarkesville; sisters, Nell James,
Clarkesville, and Annette Marvin,
Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Steven,
Derrick and Randy Seabolt and
Amber Scott; and five great-grand
children.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Professional Landscaping Services
Bid Number 208-718
BANKS COUNTY, GEORGIA is requesting proposals, along with
a statement of qualifications, from qualified firms for
landscaping services for the new Banks County Courthouse
Annex and the renovated Banks County Courthouse. To qualify
for consideration, a firm must demonstrate experience with
similar projects, availability of qualified personnel and ability to
complete the work within a stated time period and budget.
Interested firms must obtain a copy of the RFP packet and
attend a mandatory pre-submittal meeting at 9:30 a.m. on
Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Banks County Courthouse.
Packets can be obtained by contacting the Banks County
Commissioner’s Office at (706) 677-6200, or via e-mail at
asheppard@co.banks.ga.us.
For consideration, proposals must be received no later than
1:00 P.M. on Friday. Tulv 18. 2008 by the Banks County

proposals, to waive irregularities, informalities and
technicalities, and award the contract in the best interest of
Banks County. In no way will Banks County be obligated to
award this project based solely on price or low bid. Any
proposal received after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 will
be rejected.
