Matthew (Matt) Edward
McDonald, 20,
of Homer, died
Tuesday, July 22,
2008, at his resi
dence.
He was born in
Jackson County, a
son of Katherine
Nation, Homer,
and Timothy L.
McDonald, Sr.,
Commerce. He was preceded in
death by his grandmother, Linda
Wilder White.
Survivors in addition to his
parents include his step-father,
Dennis Nation, Homer; step-moth
er, Carol McDonald, Commerce,
brother, Timothy L. McDonald, Jr.,
Commerce; step-brother, Brandon
Caudle, Commerce; grandparents,
Leon White, and Edward J. and Ella
M. McDonald; and several cousins.
Graveside services were held on
Friday, July 25, 2008, at Woodbine
Cemetery, Jefferson, with the Rev.
Danny Green officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce,
was in charge of arrangements.

Vivian Garrison
Vivian Leigh Garrison, 50, of
Homer, died Wednesday, July 23,
2008.
She was born in Clarke County,
a daughter of the late Wendall and
Geneva Cook Wilson and was a
member of the Mt. Pleasant United
Methodist Church. She worked for
Bo’s Linen Service, Homer. She was
also preceded in death by a son,
Levi Garrison.
Survivors include her husband,
Herbert “Bo” Garrison, Jr„ Homer;
daughters, Christy Williams, Eva
Griffith, Kayla Garrison and Lydia
Garrison, all of Homer, son, Herbert
Garrison, III. Homer; brother, Bill
Wilson, North Carolina; sister,
Frances Turnbow, Enterprise, Ala;
and three grandchildren, Bryson and
Reece Williams and Caine Griffith,
all of Homer.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, July 26, at the Mt. Pleasant
United Methodist Church with the
Revs. Jeff Williams and Jerry Payne
officiating. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Little-Ward Funeral Home,
Commerce, was in charge of arrange
ments.

James Dyer
James Hubert Dyer, 78, of Lula,
died Friday, July 25, 2008, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center
in Gainesville, following an extend
ed illness.
He was born in White County
on July 11, 1930, the son of the
late Joe and Clifford Thomas Dyer.
He was a mechanic and enjoyed
camping. He was a member of Lula
Assembly of Praise and attended
Alto Congregational Holiness
Church. Mr. Dyer was preceded in
death by his wife, Thelma Armour
Dyer; a son, Tony Lamar Dyer; sis
ters, Etheline Meadows and Lucille
Hooper; and brothers, Hershel Dyer
and Charlie Dyer.
Survivors include sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, J.R. and Paula Dyer and
Dillard and Doris Dyer, all of Lula;
daughter and son-in-law, Janice and
Walter Hall, Royston; daughter-in-
law, Amanda Dyer, Maysville; broth
er, Dewey Dyer, Ila; eight grand
children; seven great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Monday, July 28, at Lula Assembly of
Praise with the Revs. Lanier Tatum,
Tim Beasley, and Pastor Scotty Pool
officiating. Burial was in the Living
Missions United Methodist Church
cemetery.

charge of arrangements.

Russell Tadlock
Russell Tadlock, 65, of Dahlonega,
died Saturday, July 26, 2007, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center
in Gainesville.
Survivors include his wife of
44 years, Edna Casteel Tadlock,
Dahlonega; one son; one daughter;
sister and brother-in-law, Doris and
John Whaley, Maysville; one broth
er; six grandchildren; and a number
of other relatives.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 30, at Northside
Worship Center in Hall County
with the Revs. Eddie Wiggins and
Tim Reed officiating. Burial was in
Dahlonega Memorial Park.

Mary McIntosh
Mary Elizabeth McIntosh, 52, of
Alpharetta died Sunday, July 20,
2008, at the Odyssey Hospice House
in Decatur.
She was born in Hazard, Ky„
daughter of the late Johnny and
Geneva Turner McIntosh.
Survivors include a special friend,
Bobby Fincannon; daughters, Maria
Fielder, Commerce, and Kimberly
Shipman, Maysville; three sisters;
two brothers; and six grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 23, at the
Macedonia United Methodist
Church in Alpharetta.

'Johnny' McCright
John E. “Johnny" McCright, 65, of
Auburn, Mt. Moriah Community,
died Tuesday, July 22, 2008.
He was born on February 2, 1943
in Waycross, was employed with
Reynolds, Inc. in Fairburn, and was
a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist
Church in Auburn.
He was the father of David
McCright, Homer.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, July 24, in the chapel
of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford,
with the Rev. Lamar Martin offi
ciating. Interment and a graveside
service were held at the Mt. Moriah
Baptist Church Cemetery, Auburn,
with the Rev. Eddie McCright offi
ciating.

Mary Lee
Robertson
Mary Lee LaCount Robertson, 88,
of Carnesville, formerly of Cornelia,
died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at her
residence, following a brief illness.
Born in Habersham County on
October 12,1919, she was the daugh
ter of the late Lester and Callie
Loudermilk Lacount. She was a
retired supervisor from Carwood
Manufacturing with 50 plus years of
dedicated service and was a mem
ber of Level Grove Baptist Church.
She was the grandmother of Leah
and Jody Hughes, Baldwin.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, July 29, at Level Grove
Baptist Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Charity tournament to benefit Galloway
A charity softball tournament will be held at Banks County Recreation
Fields, Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10.
There will be a concession stand open for those attending the games.
All proceeds will benefit Henry Galloway of Banks County, who has been
fighting cancer since 2004.
The cost is $150 per team.

In service: Pvt. Boatwright graduates
Army Reserve Private Michael J. Boatwright has graduated from basic
infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill
and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military
justice, physical fitness, first aid, army history, core values and traditions.
Additional training included development of basic combat skills, battlefield
operations and tactics, experiencing use of various weapons and weapons
defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Boatwright is the son of Pedro and April Sandoval, Gillsville.
The private is a 2002 graduate of East Hall High School, Gainesville.
