A woman hit her father in the head
with a ceramic dog and earned a
trip to the Banks County jail for her
efforts.
The incident occurred last Friday
at a Hwy. 59 residence. When the
Banks County Sheriff's Office dep
uty arrived at the scene, he was told
the woman had smashed the ceramic
piece over her father’s head.
Other parties at the residence told
the deputy the woman had been
arguing with everyone when her
father asked her to stop and she hit
him.
The woman was then placed under
arrest and transported to jail.

Sheriff's office responds to accidents in county
Man wearing towel arrested after resisting arrest
A Homer man was arrested by
the Banks County Sheriff Office
last week after he had been report
ed trespassing and was later seen
by a deputy walking down a road
way clothed in only a towel.
The saga began during the early
morning hours of Aug. 7 when
the BCSO received a call from a
Yonah-Homer Road resident who
said someone was banging on the
side of their home. Reports indi
cated a white man had been seen in
the area walking around nude.
A deputy was dispatched to the
scene who located the suspect, later
identified as James Paul Brock, 34
of Homer. He was walking down
the road with a towel around his
waist.
Brock did not respond to requests
to stop and had to be physically
forced to do so. After a brief strug
gle, Brock was taken into custody.
Brock was charged with public
indecency, pedestrian under the
influence of alcohol and obstruc
tion of a law enforcement officer.

following vehicle-related accidents in the county during
the past week:
•two-vehicle accident on Historic Homer Highway,
•one-vehicle accident on Rock Springs Road.

•two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 441 Shell station,
•two-vehicle accident at Sonny’s parking lot.
•two-vehicle accident on Hickory Flat Road,
Gillsville.

Tractor trailer stolen from business
A tractor trailer stolen from a local business is one of the incidents report
ed to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office last week.
The tractor trailer was taken from a Hwy. 441 South business.
Other incidents reported during the past week to the sheriff’s office
include the following:
•recovery of stolen items from a Bob White Trail, Alto, residence,
•livestock in roadway in area of Patton Road and Hwy. 326.
•damage to property at a Grant Mill Road, Alto, residence.
•burglar alarm at Banks County Primary School which proved to be
false.
•a loud noise complaint at Sloppy Joe’s mudbog. The complaint said the
mudbog was supposed to close at 10 p.m. but a loud truck could still be
heard at 10:30 p.m
•theft of two shovels, two rakes and a box of garbage bags from a Duncan
Road, Commerce, residence.
•burglary at a Lake Forest Drive, Commerce, residence.
•theft of vehicle from an East Ridgeway Road, Commerce, residence,
•alarm at a Brown Bridge Road residence which appeared to be false,
•alarm at BCMS which was set off by the milk man.
•alarm at Papa John’s on Tanger Drive which proved to be false.
•gas drive-off from Murphy USA.
•ATV in roadway on Hwy. 105.
•ATV in roadway on Partain Road.
•suspicious vehicle on Duncan Road near Riverbend Road.
•ATV in roadway on Partain Road.
•vehicle taken without permission from a McClure Road, Gillsville,
address.
•livestock in roadway on Hwy. 98.
•livestock in roadway on Carson Segars Road near Hwy. 98.
•trespassing at a Water Plant Road, Commerce, residence.

Outstanding warrants doom couple
You can’t even pick your chil
dren up at school without wor
rying about being arrested — if
you’ve got outstanding warrants.
A Homer couple found that out
first hand when they were arrested
in the parking lot of Commerce
Primary school last week.
According to the arrest report,
an officer received information
that a man was in the parking lot
who had outstanding warrants.
The officer identified James
Cory Chambers, 22, of P.O. Box
203, Homer, and arrested him on
a probation violation warrant for
a drug charge in Jackson County,
a probation violation charge stem
ming from a burglary conviction
in Banks County and an aggravat
ed assault charge from Habersham
County.
A check of the state’s criminal
database turned out that the other
person in the vehicle at the school,
Misty Lee Chambers, 28, of the
same address, had similar rela
tionships with law enforcement
agencies.
She was booked on a failure to
appear warrant from the Cornelia
Police Department relating to a
DUI (driving under the influence
of intoxicants) charge, and fel
ony charges of theft by receiv
ing and credit card fraud from
the Habersham County Sheriff’s
Office.
