August 1, 2008, at St, Mary’s Hospice
House,
Born in Atlanta, he was the son of
the late Carey D,
and Dorothy Byrd
Baker and was
married to Beverly
Lewallen Baker.
Ron was a veter
an of the United
States Marine
Corps., having
served in Vietnam,
He received four
Purple Heart med
als, the Medal of Combat V, and the
Bronze Star.
Survivors along with his wife, include
daughters, Alisha and Shane Roberts
and Kayla Segars, all of Carnesville,
brother, Don Baker, Five Points, Ala,;
sisters, Kathy Brannon and Debbie
Warburton, both of Lawrenceville,
and Sheree Mayo, Gainesville; grand
children, Morgan Roberts, Maribeth
Roberts and Matthew Roberts; an
aunt, Blanche Hodges, Dothan, Ala,;
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
August 3, at Nails Creek Baptist
Church with the Rev. Dwayne Eller
officiating, Burial was in the church
cemetery.

Robby Hunnicutt
Robby Lee Hunnicutt, 25, of Baldwin,
died Sunday, August 17, 2008, from
injuries sustained in a motorcycle acci
dent.
Born in Stephens County on January
28, 1983, he was the son of Terry
Hunnicutt of Baldwin and mother
and step-father, Debbie Tench and
Chad Wade, of Cornelia. He attended
Harvest Christian Church and was an
avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting,
fishing and riding his motorcycle, He
enjoyed living life to the fullest. Mr.
Hunnicutt was preceded in death by
grandfathers, Wayne Eugene Tench
and Robert Hunnicutt.
Survivors in addition to his parents,
include a brother, Neil Hunnicutt,
Baldwin; step-brother, Zack Wade,
Cornelia; grandmothers, Mary
Lou Tench, Demorest, and Corrine
Hunnicutt, Hollywood.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, August 20, in the cha
pel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart
Funeral Home with Pastors Rick Cox
and Luther Williams officiating, Burial
was in Demorest City Cemetery.

Joyce Barrett
Joyce Chambers Barrett, 62, of Lula,
died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at
Peachtree Christian Hospice,
Born in Hall County, she was the
daughter of the late Rex and Mamie
Lawson Chambers. She lived all of her
life in Hall County and was a member
of Lanier Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Donna
Barrett, Atlanta, Tammy Barrett,
Gainesville; a son, Chuck Barrett,
Gainesville; sister, Barbara Smith,
Gainesville; brother, Bill Chambers,
Hiram; and grandchildren, Cole
Barrett-Williams, Charlie Barrett and
Chloe Barrett.
Funeral services were held Monday,
August 18, in the chapel of Memorial
Park Funeral home with the Rev, Fred
Whitley officiating.

Emma Margie West, 66, of Homer,
died Friday, August 15, 2008, at her
residence, following an extended ill
ness,

Heard, Beeville, Texas; a daughter, La
Donna Eutena Wainscott, Tampa, Fla.;
and six grandchildren.

Grove; grandchildren, Scott and
Nicole Sanders, Jennifer and Tony

great-grandchildren.

August 5, at Clarksdale United
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Darrell McGinnis officiating. Burial
was at Powder Springs Cemetery.

Judy Hollis Owens, 69, of Maysville,
died Saturday, August 16, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, she was
the daughter of
the late L.J. and
Annie Maude
Crane Hollis, She
was a member of
Pond Fork Baptist
Church and was
retired from the
poultry industry.
Mrs. Owens was
preceded in death
by a sister, Jean
Evans; and brother, Stanley Hollis.
Survivors include a son, Billy Ladd,
Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law,
Donna and Pete Worley, Jefferson;
sisters, Irene Funderburke, Jefferson,
Betty Hamilton, Maysville, and Debra
Poole, Gainesville; brothers, J.D, Hollis,
Vanna, Hoyt Hollis, Jimmy Hollis, and
Danny Hollis, all of Pendergrass.
Funeral services were held Monday,
August 18, in the chapel of Evans
Funeral Home with the Rev, Johnny
Knight officiating, Burial was in
Pond Fork Baptist Church cemetery.

Helen Turner
Helen Fae Turner, 58, of Alto,
died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at
Habersham Medical Center, following
a brief illness,
Born in Hall County on June 7, 1950,
she was the daughter of Lottie Butler
Turner of Alto and the late Bennie
Turner. She was a homemaker and
was Holiness, Mrs. Turner enjoyed
spending time with her family, music
and traveling.
Survivors in addition to her moth
er, include a daughter and son-in-
law, Carla and Shane Ayers, Alto; a
special friend, Johnny Brock, Alto;
sister, Benny Mae Abernathy, Alto;
grandchildren, Benjamin and Brady
Ayers; nephews, David, Dale and
Wayne Abernathy; and a niece, Becky
Skelton.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
August 17, at the Yonah Congregational
Holiness Church with the Revs. J,
Clarence Reynolds and John Graham
officiating, Burial was in the church
cemetery.

'Debbie' Stevens
Deborah “Debbie” Wood Stevens,
54, of Commerce, died Wednesday,
August 13, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, she was
the daughter of the late Phillip and
Betty Jo Sorrow Wood, and was a
homemaker.
Survivors include her husband,
John Stevens, Commerce; daughters,
Onessia Free, Homer, Holly Rogers,
Commerce, Lelonie Ayers, Baldwin;
step-daughter, Susan Sanders, Homer;
step-son, Morris Stevens, Danielsville;
sister, Phyllis Chandler, Commerce;
and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
August 16, in the chapel of Little-
Ward Funeral home with the Revs.

Thomas Edward Ward, 82, of Lithonia,
formerly of Habersham County, died
Wednesday, August 13, 2008,
He was the half-brother of Howard
and Laurell Ward of Homer.

Lloyd Williams
Lloyd R, Williams, 69, of Demorest,
died Thursday, July 14, 2008, at Athens
Regional Medical Center, following a
sudden illness.
He was born in Habersham County
on March 20, 1939, the son of the late
Jake and Emma Smith Williams.
He was the father of Wendy Patrick
and Tammy Allen, both of Homer.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
August 17, in the chapel of McGahee-
Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with
Gary Hall officiating.

Annette Wood
Sara Annette Bellamy Wood, 72, of
Watkinsville, died Sunday, August 17,
2008,
A native of Homer, she was the
daughter of the late Ace and Rose
Bellamy, and was a longtime mem
ber of East Athens Baptist Church,
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by
her husband, George Carlton “Stick”
Wood Sr.
Survivors include children, George
C. Wood Jr., Decatur, Janet Tabor,
Stockbridge, and Olin and Vicki Wood,
Watkinsville; grandchildren, Brittany
Wood, Jamie Wood and Morgan Wood;
and one great-grandchild, Caiden.

in Athens. Mr,
Schneider was preceded in death by a
brother, Robert Schneider.
