DFACS to get
new building
BY SHARON HOGAN
After years of delays, it
looks like plans for a new
building for the Banks County
Department of Family and
Children Services may finally
be moving forward.
Banks County DFACS di
rector Kenny Jarvis reported at
last week's monthly meeting
that he met with a represen
tative of the State Properties
Commission three weeks ago
to discuss the new building.
Banks County staff, a repre
sentative from the Department
of Human Resources and
Banks County DFACS board
members Brenda Sullivan and
Clay Lewallen were also in at
tendance at the meeting.
Jarvis said the State Proper
ties representative indicated
Banks County could do a
“build-to-suit” building on the
property. Jarvis said the group
toured the proposed site to
determine a location for the
building.
Jarvis said after the request
for qualifications is approved
it will be about six weeks be
fore the project is advertised.
It will take another three
months to choose a developer,
Jarvis said.
The DFACS board will meet
again on Wednesday, Sept. 17,
at 2 p.m.
