Clyde Allison, 61, of Cornelia,
died Monday, September 8,
2008, at a
private care
facility.
He was an

James Hill
James Henry Hill, 75, of
the Sandy Cross Community,
Royston, died Wednesday,
September 3, 2008, at his resi
dence.
Born April 25, 1933, in Banks
County, he was the son of the
late Henry Frank and Addie May
Bennett Hill. He was retired
from Eastern Airlines and was
a member of the Calvary Baptist
Church in Toccoa. Mr. Hill was
preceded in death by a son,
James Keith Hill; and a brother,
Bobby Joe Hill.
Survivors include his wife,
Dorthy Nell Mealor Hill; two
daughters, Joellen Hughes and
Elaine Wallace, both of Palm
Desert, Calif.; six grandchil
dren; five great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Mildred H. Evatt,
Seneca, S.C., and Lois Campos,
Conyers; and nieces and neph
ews.
Graveside services were
held Saturday, September 6, at
the Riverside Baptist Church
Cemetery with Barry Reece
officiating.
Ginn Funeral Home,
Carnesville, was in charge of
arrangements.

'Granny'
Wehunt
Frances C. "Granny” Wehunt,
71, of Lula, died September 4,
2008, at The Oaks at Limestone,
following an extended illness.
She was a Hall County native
and was the daughter of the late
Johnnie Anglin and Idell Anglin.
She was a member of Springway
Baptist Church and was retired
from Peachtree Doors.
Survivors include her husband
of 50 years, Cliff Wehunt; a
daughter, Darlene Pinkerton,
Oakwood; daughter and son-in-
law, Donna and Jeff Grizzle,
Gainesville; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Eddie ad Evelyn
Wehunt, Flowery Branch;
granddaughters, Jamie Wehunt,
Jordan Pinkerton, Jodie Grizzle,
Sandy Howington, and Sharon
Ferguson; grandsons, Justin
Peck, Jerrad “Bo” Adams, Josey
Grizzle; great-grandchildren,
Alexa Jo, Ryan Austin, Logan
Christopher and Cruz' Rahne;
sister and brother-in-law, Gwen
and Herrisson Pierce, Oakwood;
brother and sister-in-law, Melvin
and Geneva Anglin, Gainesville;
friends, Tammy Grizzle, Judy
Harkins and Vernette Elrod;
and a host of other family and
friends survive. “Granny" will
be missed by all her grandchil
dren and great-grandchildren,
loved ones stated.
Funeral services were held for
Saturday, September 6, in the
Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral
Home. Burial was at Springway
Baptist Church Cemetery with
Pastor Gary Osteen and the Rev.
Grady White officiating.

Virginia Denton
Virginia Nellie Denton, 77,
of Commerce, died Saturday,
September 6, 2008, at her resi
dence.
She was bom in Banks County,
the daughter of the late James
Alexander and Nellie Watson
Blackburn. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Clyde
Denton and was a member of
Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Gail Toney and Wanda
Williams, both of Commerce,
Dianne Carey, Royston, Rita
Barber, Jefferson, and Melissa
Rowland, Hoschton; a sister,
Winnie McGill, Commerce; six
grandchildren; and seven great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, September 7, in the cha
pel of Little-Ward Funeral Home
with the Rev. Vaughn Howington
officiating. Burial was Line
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Estelle Pauline Sosebee, 87,
of Gainesville, died Saturday,
September 6, 2008, at her resi
dence, following an extended
illness.
Born in Madison County on
October 9, 1920, she was the
daughter of the late Walter and
Ollie Massey.
She was the mother of Betty
and Leon Roberts, Maysville,
Dianne and Warren Williams,
Linda and Fred Cantrell, all of
Alto, and Rita and Reed Phillips,
Lula.

held Monday, September 8, at
Memorial Park Cemetery with
the Rev. Maxie Ladd officiat
ing.

Barbara Whitaker, 68, of
Cornelia, died Friday, September
5, 2008, at her residence, follow
ing an extended illness.
She was the sister of Georgia
Bingam, Lula.
No services are planned at
this time.

Mattie Lee
Garrison
Mattie Lee Clark Garrison,
88, of Lula, died Saturday,
September 6, 2008, at the
Northeast Georgia Lanier Park
Campus following a sudden ill
ness.
She was born August 16,1920,
in Habersham County, the daugh
ter of the late John and Mattie
Adams Clark. She was retired
from the Hall County School
System, where she served as a
dietitian. She was a member of
the Airline Baptist Church for 50
years and was very active in the
Willing Workers Sunday School
Class. Mrs. Garrison was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
James Fred Garrison.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Angela Maria
Poole, Gillsville, Elaine and Dr.
Jerry Dawson, Williamsburg,
Va., Linda and Louie Hickman,
Lula; eight grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; three great-
great-grandchildren; sister, Nola
Cole, Sparta, Tenn.; brothers,
Eugene Clark, Gillsville, and
Elmo Clark, Clermont.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, September 9, at Airline
Baptist Church with the Revs.

He was born on November 5,
1945 in Hall County, to the late
Virgil J. and Wilma Greenway
Cagle.

the brother of Denver and Diane
Cagle, Lula.

Tyler Bush
Robert Tyler Bush, 17, of
Commerce, died Tuesday,
September 9, 2008, at Grady
Memorial Hospital in Atlanta,
following
injuries he
received in
an accident
on Sunday
in Banks
County.
Bush,
a senior
at Banks
County High
School,
was the son of Rita Hart Bush,
Commerce, and the late Kenny
Bush. He was a member of the
New Salem United Methodist
Church.
Survivors in addition to his
mother, include grandparents,
Ken and Norma Bush, Maysville,
and Gene and Thelma Hart,
Commerce.
Funeral services will be held
Friday, September 12, at 2
p.m., at the New Salem United
Methodist Church with the Revs.
Jim Blair, Allen Carmichael
and Charles Crabbe officiating.
Burial will be in the church cem
etery. The family will receive
friends Thursday, September 11,
from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral
home.

At The 41st Annual Autumn Leaf Festival

Entries are due in the Mar-Jac booth at 12:00 noon
Any dish containing chicken may be submitted,
including casseroles, soups and salads. Fried, barbecued
or smoked chicken parts may not be entered. A copy of
the recipe used must be included with the entry. By
entering the cook-off, contestants agree to allow recipes
to be published.
UGA Baseball Head Coach David Perno will select the
final three winning dishes and be available for
autographs. Bring your baseballs!
Entries will be judged based on taste, originality and appearance.
C 1st Prize: $500
2nd Prize: $300 \
3rd Prize: $200
Prizes will be awarded following announcement of the winners.
All participants must register on or before Friday
September 26, 2008. No entry will be allowed without prior
registration. Mar-Jac employees are not eligible to enter.
