Phone threats reported on Otis Brown Road
A resident of Otis Brown Road,
Baldwin, reported to the Banks
County Sheriff’s Office that he
received threats on Saturday
from someone saying they were
“going to kill him.’’
The responding deputy said he
called the person back to tell them
not to call the complainant again
and they told the deputy they
would kill him. This incident was
reported to BCSO investigators.
Other incidents reported to the
sheriff’s office last week were:

TWO-VEHICLE WRECK
Travis Hugh Payne, 1355 Pine Hill Drive, Elberton,
was traveling north on Hwy. 15 attempting to turn
left onto the I-85 southbound entrance ramp when

Colbert man charged
with house break-ins
Banks County Sheriff’s Of
fice investigators obtained an
arrest warrant recently for a
Colbert man in connection
with three house break-ins in
Banks County.
Banks County Sher
iff Charles Chapman said
Casey Shelnutt, 30, has been
charged with burglary.
Chapman said a house was
burglarized on Lord Road.
Someone forced their way in
the house, ransacked it and
stole several items. On the
same day two more houses on
Highway 164 were entered,
nothing was reported mising.
Chapman said at the present
time Shelnutt is being held in
the Oglethorpe County jail
on burglary charges.
Shelnutt gave Banks Coun
ty investigators the account of
what he did in Banks County
when he was interviewed.
Chapman said. After the in
terview arrest warrants were
obtained in Banks County.
He is awaiting transporta-
tionto Banks County on these
charges. Chapman said. Shel
nutt is going to have holds
on him in surrounding coun
ties for burglary, Chapman
added.
