Wood, Worley marry May 3
Shannon Michelle Wood,
Demorest, and Jake Taylor
Worley, Mt. Airy, were mar
ried Saturday, May 3, 2008
at The D'Normandy House
in Sautee-Nacoochee. Pastor
Andy Lowry officiated the cer
emony.
The bride is the daughter of
John and Nancy Black, Demor
est, and Doug Wood, Mt. Airy,
and the groom is the son of Ce
cil and Patti Worley, Homer.
Mrs. Worley is the grand
daughter of Burt and Glenda
Harper, Cornelia, and Gary
and Carolyn Wood, Baldwin.
She is the great-granddaughter
of Winona Amos, Cornelia.
Mrs. Worley is a 2005 grad
uate of Habersham Central
High School and is attending
Piedmont College. She is em
ployed by First Georgia Bank
ing Company.
The groom is the grandson
of Paul and Dot Gamer, Hol
lingsworth, and Merlene and
the late Chevis Worley, Homer.
He is a 1997 graduate of Banks
County High School and a
2003 graduate of Gainesville
State College. He is employed
with Fieldale Farms Inc.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her grandfather, Burt
Harper. She wore a strapless,
ivory beaded gown and carried
a bouquet of wine colored ros
es accented with green berries.
In her hair she wore a wine
colored daisy. The wedding
colors were wine and olive.
The maid of honor was Ash
ley Lawson, Savannah, best
friend of the bride. Caitlin
Wood, Demorest, sister of the
bride served as a bridesmaid.
Honorary Bridesmaids were:
Melissa Wood, Demorest, sis
ter of the bride; Ashley Irvin,
Demorest, sister of the bride;
Kristen Freeman, Commerce;
Amy Gibbs, Cornelia; Kristi
Dodgins, Dahlonega; and Al
lison Worley, Gainesville,
sister-in-law of the groom.
Bridesmaids carried wine col
ored daisy bouquets.
The flower girl was Anna
Grace Worley, Gainesville,
niece of the groom.
The best man was the father
of the groom. Bryson Worley,
brother of the groom, served as
a groomsman.
Ushers were: Maurice Nas-
sar, Houston Texas; Todd Irvin,
Demorest, brother-in-law of
the bride; Biff Parson, Dublin;
Jonathon Milford, Commerce;
Blakely Crumbley, Toccoa;
and Lee Ritter, Salem, S.C.
The ring bearer was Hunter
Worley, Gainesville, nephew
of the groom.
Guest book attendants were
Alisha Martin, Cornelia, and
Jessica Carter, Lula, both cous
ins of the groom.
A reception followed the
ceremony at The D’Normandy
house. Friends of the bride
catered the event with servers
from Nacoochee Grill assist
ing. A three-tiered wine and
olive colored wedding cake
was served. Friends and fam
ily celebrated with music and
dancing until the couple left
for the evening.
The couple honeymooned in
Orlando, Fla., and now reside
in Mt. Airy.

Ballenger family benefit set, Nov. 8
A benefit for the family of Jesse Ballenger
has been planned to help with medical and fu
neral costs.
A spaghetti supper will be held Saturday,
Nov. 8. Plates will be $6 and will include spa
ghetti, salad, bread and tea.
There will also be a cake walk and silent auc
tion.
It will be held at Tiny Town Restaurant,
Homer, from 5-7 p.m.

planned
Participants are being
sought for the first annual
Banks County Chamber
of Commerce Christmas
Festival December 5-6 at
the historic courthouse in
Homer.

for craft and food vendors,
parade participants and
