God can help us restore
As I sat and looked
out my window, I
saw the clear beauti
ful blue sky and the
autumn colors from
God’s paintbrush. I
realized that in the
midst of these some
what trying times
we do have many
things in which to
be thankful. Right
now, I am most thankful for
His restoration on power.
The window where I sit
and gaze is just a small part
of the new home the Lord has
blessed me with. It was only
ten months ago when I found
myself without a home of my
own, when a fire destroyed it
and everything in it. Today, I
sit back in awe at the goodness
of God.
When I left the charred rem
nants that day, I had no idea
what the future had in store,
but I had no other choice but
to trust God. I depended on
Him to provide me a place to
live and clothes for me to wear.
I had no choice but to depend
on Him to guide me in the
countless decisions that I was
forced to make over the com
ing months.
Chris and I began to make
decisions. First, we had to de
cide whether to rebuild or buy.
Once we decided to build, we
had to determine what kind
of house to build. All along
the way, these decisions were
contingent upon our insurance
coming through for us. One
decision seemed to build on
another and they all went back
to our rock—our God, the one
in whom we depended.
I haven’t always
depended on God
in every situation.
There have been
many times that I
decided what to do,
without giving Him
a second thought.
I think that’s been
true for all of us at
one time or the oth
er. I think “we” like
to be in control when all we
need to do is give it to HIM. I
was at the bottom, at the end of
my rope, and I had no choice
but to trust God.
This year has reminded me
that He is never going to leave
me nor forsake me. This year
has taught me that He is in
deed a friend that sticks closer
than a brother. This year has
reminded me that if we trust in
the Lord with all our heart, lean
not unto our own understand
ing, and acknowledge HIM—
He will direct our path.
Have you found yourself in
need of restoration? I know
there are people all over our
country who find themselves
in broken relationships. God
can restore that relationship.
I know there are people who
have lost a job during this eco
nomic downswing. God can
restore that job. I also know
there are people who have quit
serving the Lord. I also know
that He will restore your rela
tionship with him as well. All
any of us have to do is ask.
