SCHOOL SYSTEM EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR HONORED
A reception was held on Monday, Nov. 17, at Banks County Elementary School to
honor the Banks County School System’s employees of the year. Those honored
were: (front, L to R) Judy Milford, BCES and system-wide Teacher of the Year; Kim
Harris, BCES nurse, classified employee of the year; Linda Elliott, BCES parapro-
fessional of the year; Karen Nelson, Banks County Primary School Teacher of the
Year; and Tracey Todd, BCPS receptionist, classified employee of the year; (back, L
to R) Laurie Erwin, Banks County Middle School receptionist, classified employee
of the year; Stephanie Simmons, BCMS Teacher of the Year; Becky Cantrell, BCMS
paraprofessional of the year; Traci Banks, Banks County High School administra
tive assistant, classified employee of the year; Teresa Rogers, BCHS paraprofes
sional of the year; Gary Goodson, BCHS Teacher of the Year; and Sherry Foster,
BCPS paraprofessional of the year. Family, friends and school employees attended
the reception to honor this group.
BCMS STUDENTS RECOGNIZED FOR READING
The Banks County Board of Education recognized the following students at the
monthly board meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, from Banks County Middle School
for reading more than 25 books in the first nine weeks of school. Those pictured
include: (L to R) Noah Wagner, 26 books; J.R. Asor, 29 books; Cara Lea Black, 39
books; and Makayla Hewell, 70 books. Not pictured: Payge Reynolds, 33 books.

87 new members into the
chapter, including several
from Banks County.
The new members include:
Joshua McDonald, Baldwin;
Briana Minish, Commerce;
William Avery, Demorest;
and Billy Humphries, Gills-
ville.
Phi Theta Kappa is an
honors society recognizing
excellence at two-year col
leges. Membership is based
primarily upon academic
achievement. Members must
have completed at least 25
hours of course work toward
an associate degree program,
have a grade point average
of 3.6, and enjoy full rights
of membership.

NUTRITION PROGRAM HONORED
The Georgia Department of Education recently
honored all four of the Banks County Schools for
reaching a high level of student participation in the
School Nutrition Program. The Banks County Board
of Education recognized the lunchroom manag
ers from each of the schools at the board meeting
on Monday, Nov. 17. Shown (L to R) is: Kim Miller,
