Stanley Phillip Love
GAINESVILLE — Stanley Phillip Love, 60,
Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, December
23, 2020.
Mr. Love was bom in
Winder, a son to the late
Ernest and Roberta Un
derwood Love. Mr. Love
was a supervisor with
Dundee Mills in Gaines
ville and worked in en
vironmental services at
Northeast Georgia Medi
cal Center in Gainesville.
Mr. Love was a member
of the Pendergrass Bap
tist Church, he loved his
Jefferson Dragons and was the world’s greatest papa.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Love was preceded in
death by his siblings, David Lamar Love, Evalene
Major and Sue Love Pethel.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Day and her
husband Ken, Gainesville; son, Phillip Love and his
wife Megan, Llowery Branch; grandchildren, Anna
Belle, Jackson, Mia, Gracelynn and MaryClaire; sib
lings, Jack Love, Virginia Hoopbaugh, Jim Love, all
of Pendergrass, Jerry Love, Talmo, Judy Love Wat
son, Pendergrass, and Mike Love, Gainesville; and
his special friends, Pam Love and Cheryl Love also
survive.
Luneral service: Sunday, December 27, 2020 at
3 p.m. in the Pendergrass Baptist Church with the
Revs. Danny Jones and Johnny Knight officiating. The
burial will follow in the Pendergrass Baptist Church
Cemetery with Danny Hoopbaugh, Allen Love, Jim
my Love, Macko Parks, Dewayne Major, Joey Love
and Chris Hoopbaugh honored as pallbearers.

2020 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Evans Luneral Home.

Robert Hutchinson McEver
TALMO — Robert Hutchinson McEver, 94, Tal
mo, entered into rest Monday, December 21, 2020.
Mr. McEver was born
in Talmo, a son of the
late R.H. “Hubert”
and Llorence Carter
McEver, was a mem
ber and Deacon of the
Talmo Baptist Church,
Johnnies Hill Masonic
Lodge, Scottish Rite
and the Shriners. Mr.
McEver, along with
his father and brothers,
owned and operated the
R.H. McEver Packing Company for many years,
employing many people of the area and producing
the famous McEver Brand of pork and beef prod
ucts still sold in stores today.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McEver is preced
ed by his wife of 70 years, Caroldene Blackstock
McEver; sisters, Sarah McEver Kinney and Peggy
McEver Griffin; and brothers, Joe Carter McEver
and Lloyd McEver.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Kirksey and
her husband Tim, Dacula; son, Chip McEver and
his wife Myra, Talmo; brother, Wylie McEver and
his wife Shirley, Dawsonville; sister, Rachael Parm
er and her husband Rex, Brookton Community; four
grandchildren, Courtney Philips, Chris Kirksey and
his wife Carol, Mac McEver and his wife Timber-
lie, and Jonathan McEver and his wife Allison; 10
great-grandchildren, Hallie, Trey, Jett, Brooks, Hart
and Haylen McEver, Caylor and Cooper Philips and
Chloe and Niko Kirksey also survive.
Due to the COVID Pandemic, a graveside service
will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 23,
2020 from the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery with
the Rev. Mark Spence officiating. All those attend
ing are asked to maintain safe social distancing and
please wear protective masks. Gentlemen honored
as pallbearers are Mac McEver, Jonathan McEver,
Chris Kirksey, Jett, Brooks and Trey McEver. Hon
orary pallbearers are Hart McEver and Caylor and
Cooper Phillips.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in
memory of Mr. Robert McEver to the Food Bank
of Talmo Baptist Church, 475 Main Street, Talmo,

Bill Meeler
BISHOP — Bill Meeler, 78, Bishop, passed away on
Monday, December 21,2020.
Born on January 17,
1942, he was the son of
the late Arthur Ethridge
Meeler and Lottie Ardell
Kidd.
Bill enjoyed watch
ing football, hunting and
fishing, and could always
be found tinkering with
something.
In addition to his parents
he was preceded in death
by his sister, Delories Ru-
ark.
Survivors include his soulmate, Jeanne Pittman; son,
Stair Meeler (Amy); daughter, Donna Medlock; several
grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
There will be a private service at Lord and Stephens
West Chapel with the Rev. David Maddox officiating.
Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery.

Patricia A. (Anderson) Paine
JEFFERESON — Patricia A. (Anderson) Paine, Jef
ferson, formerly of Windsor Locks, Conn., entered into
rest on Friday, December 18, 2020 after a long battle
with COPD with her family and friend beside her.
Pat was bom in Hart
ford, Conn, on March
26, 1939, the daughter
of Alfred and Ramona
(Williams) Champany.
Pat held various jobs over
the years. Her joy was her
family and friends.
Pat was predeceased
by her husband, Ray
mond E. Paine; and sons
Stephen and Christopher
Anderson.
Pat is survived by her
daughter, Rosemary (Anderson) Johnson, Windsor
Locks, Conn.; son, Tim and his wife Dawn Anderson,
Jefferson; two grandchildren and three great-grand
children in Conn.; and grandchildren in Ga., Samantha
(Anderson) and A.J. Neals, Commerce, Jacob Ander
son, Commerce, and Jessica Anderson and her partner
Andrew Carter, Jefferson; four great- grandchildren;
and her wonderful neighbor and friend, Betty Fischer.
Services will be private.

Tommy Ray Phillips
JEFFERSON — Tommy Ray Phillips, 54, Jefferson,
entered into rest Sunday, December 20,2020.
Mr. Phillips was bom in
Winder, the son of the late
Roy Lee Hart and Julia I.
Phillips of Jefferson and
was the owner of Dixie
Firewood and Welding.
Survivors, in addition
to his mother, are son,
Bradley Phillips, Califor
nia; sister, Sherry Gibson,
Jefferson; brother, Gary
Sikes, Covington; one
grandchild, Vayda Grace
Phillips; two step-grand-
children, Lola and Liam Greenberg; two aunts, Roberta
Waldrup and Bonnie Phillips; and a nephew, Jackson
Gibson, also survives.
Memorial service: Saturday, December 26, 2020 at
11 a.m. from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with
Trent Wilson officiating.

Mark Andrew Shirley
COMMERCE — Mark Andrew Shirley, 64, Com
merce, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Pied
mont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Shirley was bom in Commerce to Genevieve As-
pinwall Shirley of Commerce and the late Stonewall
Jackson Shirley Jr. He was a member of the Maysville
Baptist Church and was retired from the University of
Georgia as a county extension agent.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Shirley is survived by
his wife, Kathy Anne Mitchell Shirley, Commerce;
daughter, Rebecca Shirley Liger, Blakely; sons, An
drew Shirley, Cleveland, Miss., and Benjamin Shir
ley, Thomasville; brothers, Stone Shirley III and Chris
Shirley, both of Commerce; sister, Susan Harvin, Com
merce; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service: Sunday, December 27, 2020 at
3 p.m. at the Maysville Baptist Church with Dr. Shane
Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson
Memorial Gardens.
Family to receive friends: Sunday, December 27,
2020 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Anyone not com
fortable with coming inside the church may drive-thru
the front of the church and pay their respects.

Rev. Jerry Morris Stowe
HOMER — Rev. Jerry Morris Stowe, 73, Homer,
passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at North
east Georgia Medical Center.
Born November 23, 1947 in Toccoa, he was the
son of the late Rev. J. W. and Mozelle Looney Stowe.
Jerry graduated in 1965 from Stephens County High
School, attended Truett-McConnell College, Bel
mont University, and then graduated from Piedmont
College with an Early Childhood Education Degree.
He received his Media Specialist Degree from the
University of Georgia. Jerry was an educator in the
Banks County School System for 29 years, as a 2nd
grade teacher and Media Specialist. He served as
Pastor, Associate Pastor, Interim Pastor and Senior
Adult Pastor for numerous churches in Stephens,
Banks, Franklin, Hart and Habersham counties. Jer
ry was ordained as a Baptist Minister on December
17,1968.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his sister, Pat Stowe Moore; brother-in-law, Rev.
Walter Gilbert; sister-in-law, Susan Stowe; and his
father-in-law, George W. Osborn.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Erlene
Osborn Stowe, of the home; son and daughter-in-
law, Matthew and Elizabeth Stowe, Huntsville, Ala.;
daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Andy Duke,
Windsor, Colo.; grandchildren, Presley and Grayson
Stowe, Kyndall White, Scott White, Layne Stowe
and Ethan and Chloe Duke; mother-in-law, Juanita
Crocker Osborn, Homer; brother and sister-in-law,
Rev. Tommy and Marsha Stowe, Mt. Airy; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Jannie Gilbert, Stone Moun
tain, Linda and Larry Haley, Hartwell, and Judy
and Dennis Thomason, Eastanollee; brother-in-law,
Garry Moore, Toccoa; and a number of nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service: Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at
11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Revs.
Andy Childs and Fred Lodge officiating. Burial will
follow at Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The
following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Doug
Haley, Kevin Gilbert, Ricky Brown, Travis Thoma
son, Patrick Stowe, David Rider, James Thomason
and Dwayne Osborn.

2020 from 2- 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Ebenezer Bap
tist Church.

he served as a deacon and

er, and was the owner of
Thurmond Taxidermy. In
addition to his parents,
Mr. Thurmond is preced
ed in death by a daughter,
Sheni Thurmond Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Peggi Glaze Thurmond,
Bogart; son, Scotty Thurmond and his wife Kasi, Wat-
kinsville; grandchildren, Faith Thurmond, Anna Kate
Thurmond and Mary Grant Thurmond; brothers, Alex
Thurmond. Lake Wells, Fla., and Wade Thurmond, El-
berton.
