Disgraceful Rowdyism In IJirard. J>el ween 12 and 1 o’clock Sunday morn ing a drunken loafer named Hicks, who had boon in Girard about nix or eight months, went to the residence of MrH. Rohiuolt and daughter, and frightened thorn away from homo. Mr. Portorvont was sent for who got tho man off aud started him on his way. Shortly after ward the liquor-crazed individual wont back to Mrs. Uabinett’s, broke in at a window, demolished furniture, glasses, Ac., burned a fow things, stole fivo or six dollars from u bureau drawer, nud with u pistol and knife iu hand, threatened to kill overyhody who ciimo in his way. Tho badly frightened ladies fled to neighbor ing houses for protection. Several muti congregated and got tlio fellow away from the bouso. They started with him to Gi rard, but ho cut a Mr. Cobb iu tho hand, and finally made his escape, running anon of Mr. Portorvont up tho road in extra double quick. A parly was gotten togeth er Sunday to arrest the drunken despera do, but he could not ho found. NVo hope ho may yot he discovered and arrested, ns there is, or ought to bo, a placo in Iho Pouitoutinry for nil such degraded charac ters. Mrs. Robinett is a worthy and hard working lady, and much sympathy is felt hi her behalf. Eatal Culling Scrape near Crawford. •Reports reached town yeuterduy that •). L. Davis, Jr., was killed on Suuday, near Crawford, Ala., by A. ft. Eiland, a former treasurer of Russell county. The killing was caused by cuts from a knife in tlio ulnlouiou. Particulars are meagre, though wo hoar that a dispute arose out of uu old grudge About a debt one owed the other. It is also stated that Davis'was in liquor, and iiuido the first pass with a knife. Tlio two, it is said, woro relatives. Mr. i'euhody** Letter The North and South Hull road. Mr. Peabody has a letter iu another column explaining tho terms of his hill concerning tlio issuance of bonds by cor porate towns and cities. Thb Superintendent informs us that ono hun dred convicts enu complete tho grading between tho terminus aud LuGrango in loss than three months. NVo think tbo company relies upon tho bill referred to by our Athiutn correspondent, though this was more implied than stated, the oftleors being very reticent, tint hopeful that their labor of years would y crowned with succoss. Mothers’ Hope Council of Friends of Temperance, at their meeting last night, passed tho following resolutions compli mentary to Rev.
