A Russian Blood Hou Ml.
Mr. Kyle received one yesterday from
a friend in New York. The brute arrived
on tbe freight train yeeterday. He's a
short haired dog, of moose color, with
enormous feet and a head somewhat re
sembling that of a hoar. Though only
two yearn old, ha ia 5 feet 1 inches long
from the tip of the tail to tho nose; two
feet, seven inches high nod weighs 125
pounds. It is one of tho most , splendid
looking doga we have ever seen, being
magnifioenlly proportioned—the body
neither lean nor foil, but the perfec
tion of doggish beanty, with the excep
tion of rather wolfish ears. He has
not yet attained his foil growth. He waa
brought out aa a yard dog. Master James,
a nephew of Mr. Kyle, olaims him, and
says he intends sending him to his
mother in Tdbutton.
Again wo hear he ia to be given to
Captain 8. H. Hill, of tbe Express Com
pany. The animal seems to taka a fancy
to several people. He se«m«d always
glad to roeeive the earesses of Master
James Kyle. He waa kept ohained and
harnessed in roar of the store yesterday,
and many went to see the animal, wbieh.

—The delegates appointed to visit
Washington to present to Congress tbe
importance of the improvement of our
river, and for the payment of whose ex
penses Connoil has appropriated $300,
are Hon, M. J. Crawford, ex-Mayor John
McHhenny and Col. A. R. Calhoun. It is
vary probable that two at least will go.
—We are glad to note that more of our
people are seeming mocking birds than
oanartea. Tho song of tba former w
much rtoher and more powerful. We
read the other day of a Northern sea cap
tain who carried a songster baok to Flori
da to learn again his native woodland
notes. He had learned to imitate every
thing aronnd the honae and barn yards,
and bad forgotten the woodland imita
tions. He is said to possess only an orig
inal squeak. We remember a politician
onee used this with telling effect on a
prominent opponent. Ho said like the
mocking bird be could beautifully adopt
the thoughts of others, but bad only an
original squeak of his own.
