The foregoing remarks are ooofloed to
the State of Louisiana and to the sugar
intereeta of the State; but the cotton and
rice planting interests have to be oonaider-

try above Memphis, and ail the tributa
ries of the Mississippi in the Southern

The sugar crop of Louisiana will prob
ably be out short one-third by the floods,

800,000 by the floods and rains np to tha

subside and the ground becomes dry
enough to plant ootton, it will be loo late
