unfavorable season for planting and
great daioage to the moBt productive oot

also in the amount of fertilizers used, and

In the cemetery, Monday, a lady had
put some very choice and beautiful flow,
ere ou tbe grave ef a loved friend and her
two Confederate boys. Returning, she
found only tin common blossoms—which,
for their bright coloring, had been used
to set off the others—remaining, and, in
addition; found a m«a ami womam leated
on the tombstone. She mildly eaggested
that the marble waa not put there for
restiog-plaoes, bnt they did not move.
Unwilling to have a disturbance raised on
Memorial Day by their afralt, she let
them alone. We would recommend that
hereafter the Mayor detail a body of spe
cial policemen to remain in the cemetery
on euob occasions, and put in the guard
house those ahameloss wretches—male
and female—who appear to have not the
least idea of common deoeney, and flaunt
their brazen effrootry in the faoe of those
called by affliotion to honor tbe loved and
the loat. No principle of honor or shame
actuates some people. Only tha fear of
punishment actuates them.
