Tn Central Texan myt that Bobartaon
ooontj ban had a boat Iwanty-fire natural-
laad Ohinaman for tba laat aararal yaara,
and that thay voted tba atnlght Damo-
oratio Uekat at tht laat two aleotionx.
I* waa reported ia Waablagton on Sat
urday laat that Oaa. P. M. B. Young,
laaibar of Coagraaa from Gaoigia, had
“daoliaad a promiaaat military poaition
taadarad him by a Enropaaa powar."
Tn Atlanta Constitution aaya that mnoh
troabla aad dalay would be obviated if
proapaotlra military oompaalaa, in apply
ing for Executive ordara under which to
organiaa, would aead a muter roll of at
leaet fifty-three man for an infantry, aixty
for an artillery, and forty for a oavalry
oompany, with the propoeed name of the
oompany.
Evan the Maw York Tribune don't want
any aoatal equality “oivil righta” at the
North. Speaking of the oaaa of the two
aoloradatodaate of the Oonnaotiout Lite-
raijr Iaatltnta at Suflald, who made a
groat oomplaint because they ware ex-
olndad from a table at whiah a number of
white atndenta were eating, the Tribune
aaya: “Tba idea at appealing to the pub
lic aad propounding startling conundrums
about equality and oivil righta, beoause
half a doeea boardiog-aebool boys refute
to ait at labia with two oolored janitors,
ia oanying the apeoial polities of the put
twenty yearn almoat to .the point of ab-
tardily.”
A Datoovnax.—The heretofore irre-
ptaaaibla George Franoie Train—after
auffeting martyrdom in both tbit oonntry
and Europe for tba eooentrf cities
which ha ehariabad u principles—now
maku the public oonfaaaion that he hes
diaeovarad his error and intenda to reform
hiaweyeif the prau will lot him. Tbit
preen will let him, aad will eongratolate
him on the reatoration of bit reason.
George aaya that this ohange in him hu
been wrought by “abatinenoe from all
kindaof animal food.” Now hare ia a
auggaation that may be made of benefit
to others, if their friends will only induoe
them to make the application. Train is
■at, by long odds, tba only man in the
oonntry whom usefulness is destroyed by
his idiosyncrasies, and if a purs vegetable
diet hu dona so much In his out, who
eaa tell the amount of good that may be
aoooatpliahed through tbs same agency?
Tn Naw York Herald, ia its Finanoial
art lots of Monday laat, discusses at urns
length the probable efTut of the new
Ourrsney act. It contends that it will
pradically prove oontmetiva in Its affact
by looking up •18,000,000 of legal ten
ders, u it restricts tbs total Trsuury note
circulation to (882,000,000, whereu the
Eieoatlve Department hu heretofore
olaimed that the maximum of legal ten
ders wu (400,000,000. It holds that the
sum held in the Trsuury or aub^eot to its
draft must hereafter be considered a bal
ance instead of a “reutve,” and must be
ineluded in the (882,000,000 of circula
tion. It uya that tba provisions of the
bill that refer to tba re-dletribution of
bank circulation “are not more likely to
ba operative than an enaotment for the
redistribution of the wheat fields of tba
Vut for the benefit of New England";
and it oontsnda that the releau of the
banka from keeping a reserve on aooount
of oiroulation will bava little effeot, as
“the laws of prudenoe, whioh have always
governed the management of banks, will
require that the reserves to be held to
meet their deposits and redeem their bills
over tbsir own oonntry shall not be leu
than they have been heretofore.”
Tuonan the Oivil Bights bill failed to
pau Oongreu at its recent aeuion, it is
by no means certain that it will not be
passed at tba next session. That is a
question depending to a grut extent
upon the ruulta of tba eleotiona of this
year, and upecially at the South. Should
it be dearly shown that the prospect of
the peaaaga of the bill hu weakened the
Badioal party, that party will hardly be
bold enough to incur additional odium by
panning the bill next winter. It appears
that the bill hu been left in auoh a posi
tion that it can quiokly be taken from the
table of the House and noted on at the
nut session. , A report of the final pro
ceedings on it at the late session uya that
some colloquy wu had u to whather it
ahould ba referred to the Judiciary Com
mittee or remain on the Spuker'e table,
and finally its friends decided that its po
aition on the Speaker's table, where it
would be one of the first bills at the next
aauion, wu more favorable than if it
were in tba hands of the Judiciary Com
mittee, which would be 17th on the list of
oosnmittau to ba oalled, and would not
probably be readied next session. It wu
therefore left on the Speaker's table.
■w.irm itt
Would it not be well, for the City Coun
cil to appoint an Advisory Committee to
oo-operate with the engineer, who will be
sent on from Wuhiogton, to oarry out
the objects of the bill recently passed for
improving the Chattahoochee. It might
ba well to uleot two from Council, one
from our mercantile community, one from
the officers of the steamboats, and one
from some point between here and Eu-
faula. Such a body, by oo-oporating,
could uve the engineer offioer muoh
trouble, and carry out effectually tbe under
taking which Columbus hu assumed, and
so far auooeasfully projected. In this oon.
■action it may be well to state the Cen
tral Bond will render good servioe. Lut
year this liberal corporation offered to
furnish all the apparatus for cleaning out
Woolf oik's bar, if the eity would vote
(8,000. We feel aura the Central Boad
will atill extend its assistance, for though
Columbus did not vote the money direct
ly, it wu through the oity that five times
the amount wu obtained. We think it ;
would ba wiu for an officer of tbe Central 1
Boad to be added to the committee.
TAMM HjWTIIj
It (a already apparent that tutha coming
poMel eamgatn parttas will divide in
tba Statu, on the < Curraaoy> question,
pretty muoh u tiny did in Coagraaa. In
tbs Wut both tba old
' favor JW 1
more currenoy, aad in tbs East the Can
didates of both parties will ba pledged to
an early resumption of specie payments
and no more expansion. In the Middle
Statu there will probably ba lau uni
formity, and we may la some of tbalr
Congressional Districts find a hard money
or specie payment Democrat opposing an
inflation Bepubiican, and vice terea. In
tbs South, we think, the Currency quasi
tion, though ona of mack interact to the
people, will be made secondary to other
iuucs. The Civil Bights agitation op-
presses one race among us like a night
mare, and re-awakena tbs silly ambition
of lha other to a degree that
all other political aspirations. This is
to ba the controlling issue hers, and we
doubt whether oandidatu for Congress
among us will even be asked how they
stand on the Financial question. It la a
humiliating position in whioh to foroe the
people of any section of the country—
when they feel that there la so muoh rea
son to apprehend Congressional invasion
of their dearest social righta and customs,
that they oannot afford to give doe con
sideration to other publio questions
mediately affecting their loterasta and
business. But that ia precisely the non.
dition of the people of tba Booth at this
time.
The old political parties have already,
through oonvsatioae, declared their Fi
nancial policy in two grant Western Statu
—Illinois aad Indiana. Ia these two
States both tba Democrats and Bapubli-
oans demand aeon currency. On the
other hand, both these parttas in Maine
and the Bepublieans in New Hampshire
have declared in favor of specie re
sumption and no inflation, and this will
undoubtedly be the sentiment of both
parttas in all the Naw England Statu and
in New York.
If tbe condition of all parts of the
country were suoh u to permit a square
division npon this question, there Is little
doubt that the next Oongreu would be
quite u decidedly in favor of more
renoy at the present one la, and probably
more so. But the disturbing elements
which we have mentioned above aeay
prevent this. Looking forward to the
more remold future, we may anticipate
such an aggravation of this contut u
will lead other sections to promise the
South that no wu shell be mode Upon
her institutions or onatome, and thus ena
ble the people of the Sonthern Statu too
to take into their political oontaeta a
question which affuta them u muoh u
lha people of any other part of the
Union, and whioh oannot be uiiafaotorily
rattled until the people ef the whole
oonntry give expression to their opinions
and wishu.

Editor* of Enquirer-Sun :
As I have never notioed anything in
your paper in regard to tba fanning in
terest from this portion of the oonnty, I
will endeavor to give you a few linM as
briefly ns possible. The heavy floods that
we had during the early put of the spring
greatly damaged the farms in this eeotion
and retarded farm work, many farmers
having to plough up and plant over two
and three times, eapeoially bottom leads;
but this seemed only to renew their ener
gies. They did it oheerfully, and, with
tha assistance of a dry May, they have
been successful in obtaining a tolerable
fair stand of both oorn and ootton, whioh
are now looking well. Ooru oropa are
looking exceedingly well. The area of
corn is much greater than any year einoe
the war. It no iliauter happens to tbe
corn orop, there will be an abundant sup
ply of corn made to do this section. Oat
crops are as good as the lands can make,
with the exception of a little rust in
places. Wheat ia also good. Cotton that
has been worked well looks tolerably
well, but is generally a little graaiy.
This year, for tbe first time sinoe the
war, tbe farmers in this oommuuity have
negleoted their cotton and worked their
ooru. We have bun having too much
rain for the last ten days. Freedman
have worked better than any yur sines
the war; and the same might be said of
tbe whitu. The white man of thia oom
muuity have atuok close to their business,
and worked hud, for which they have a
bright prospect of being amply and riohly
rewarded.
