Tho ladles are certainly making a com
plete success of their festival. Public pat
ronage seems to be liberally bestowed,
and It Is given to a most worthy objoct.
The receipts of the first night arc said to
have amounted to about $300; over fifty
dollars was taken in by one table. Yester
day a largo number of ladles and gentle
men went up to tho noon lunch, and the
receipts then must hsvebeen considerable.
Last night tho attendance was large. The
room was full and everybody seemed to
bo delighted. The hall was just as pretty
as ever and was the admiration of all, It
! is generally conceded that there was never
1 a more tasty or more beautiful arrange
ment seen In this city. It is well worth a
visit to the festival just to see the room.
All the tables seemed to bo well patronized
last night. Tho sale of fancy articles was
large. Bomc of these arc beautiful, and
display the most exquisite design as well
as tho flhCHt cxocullon. Prices are re
markably low for a church festival.
Wc saw a warm-hearted old bachelor,
last evening, who bought everything that
was offered Pa him. When lie loft he had
his pockets full. Several dolls were plainly
visible, and he made a desperate effort to
conceal a peculiar looking garment with a
quantity of embroidery on it.
Button-hole bouquets sold well, and
almost every beau in the room had a little
bunch of “floral Inspiration” stuck on his
lapiK'l. Man is mortal and he will eat.
The refreshment table was very interest- ‘
ing, and was constantly surrounded by j
a host of friends. The fish-pond was In
good condition, and the post-office chock
full of mail. The lemonade well is an un- !
fulling source of refreshment for thirsty!
humanity, and It received Its full share of
patronage. The receipts last night were j
doubtless quite large.

Notwithstanding the Incleiniwy of tho
weather on tho nlKht of tho recont pic-nit•
tflven by tho Columbus Guards, thoro was
a very good attendance, and tho net pro-
amounted to about seventy dollars.
If the weather had boon favorable tho com
pany would certainly have realized u
much larger sum.
Tho Guards are not content with this
single pic-nic, and have determined to
have another, at Reich's garden, during
the full inoon of May.
Tho unfortunate rain prevented all the
enjoyment which moonlight would have
added to the former occasion, and it is to
lie hopKl that a more favorable night can
l>e obtain**). The weather about the mid
dle of May is apt to be pleasant.
Preparations will soon Is? made for the
approaching pic-nic, and it is sure turita
the occasion of great enjoyment. We
hear that a fine string band will be en
gaged for the ball-room, and that a brass
band will be stationed in the stand out
side.
The affair, if properly managed, can be
made one of the most pleasant of the sea
son. With this pic-nic, that of the City
Light Guards, and several proposed ex
cursions in the future, there are line pros
pects foran abundance of amusements du
