Everybody.
The present term of tho Supreme Court
has made a decision, out of which will nec
essarily grow a great deal of lltogatlon
and comparison. Tho case wont up from
Griffin. It Is too long to publish It In full.
Tho decision declares unconstitutional
tho eleventh section of tho homestead law.
That section allowed parlies who had
taken tho homatoad to sell It, provided the
wife and husband both sign tho deed, and
the Ordinary of the county approved It.
The decision declares that such a provis
ion tn the homestead law is unconstitu
tional, and that they cannot sell except as
provided In the constitution. Tho consti
tution only provides four circumstances
under which the homestead can be sold:
Ist, for taxes; 2d, for Improvements made
on the homestead; 3d, for labor performed
on tbe homestead; and 4th, for mortgage s
Ac., In the shape of Incumbrances lifted
from the homestead.
Outside of these, the law now declares
a sale of the homestead null and void. It
almost repeals the eleventh section of the
act, and places a homestead almost with
out the power to even sell. Weapprohend,
however, that a sale of the homestead
might bo sold, thrtmgh a bill In equity, for
some good reasons.
As the decision now stands, a number of
people In our knowledge have bought
property of this nature, and the title to it
is not worth the paper it Is written on. It
Is an 111 wind that blows nobody good.
This wind will probably revive the sinking
ship, labelled “law business."
We are not sufficiently posted as yet, to
fathom tho justice of the decision, or to
foretell tho practical workings of tho law,
but if we understand the ueclslon aright,
we know It will be tbe production of consid
erable barm to those that have bought
homesteads, and may recuperate the
pockets of somo that have sold.

Dear Times: The assembly at tho Fair

any other plow yet produced. I simply

The Judges decided for best roadsters
and teamsters as follows: Best stallion, 4
years old—entries: Win. Robinson, “Clin
ton"; Armstrong, “Rip Van Winkle";
Henshaw, no name; 8. H. McCurdy.
“Howler." Decision—B. H. McCurdy, Ist
premium; K. T. Armstrong, 2d premium.
Special Premiums—For best lot young
mules, 11 were entered by Mr. C. Robin
son—no competition. Prize.
At this point we met Dr. Jones, of this
city—a most courteous gentleman— I With
whom we exchanged the usual civilities.
Next exhibited were the thorough-breds
of Alabama. Dr. A. Armstrong gets the
first prize ; Robinson, owner of Fanny,
the second.
At this juncture Mr. Ford, who is man
ager in blooded stock, became restless
while the judges were passing upon the
merits of the stock exhibited, and called
for “time." Hu is one of our kind of men,

The Albany New® publishes the follow
ing call fora county mass meeting to pre
vent seed cotton stealing. All citizens,
white and colored, are invited to attend
and participate:
“The undersigned citizens of Dougherty
county, Impressed with the necessity of
combined action for the adoption of some
measure or measures to suppress the
great evil, now so prevalent, of stealing
and purchasing seed cotton in small quan
tities arid In the night time; respectfully
call upon all good citizens In tho county,
of whatever race, color, condition or occu
pation, to assemble at the Court House in
Albany, on Thursday next, 4th prox., at il
o'clock a. m., in mass meeting; then and
there to devise and determine upon some
mode and measure for the protection of
property, the punishment of thieves, and
the discontinuance of the growing and
ruinous practice of purchasing stolen
cotton.
“Citizens of Leo county Interested arc
also invited to attend and co-operate.”
The above call evidently means busi
ness. Such a call is in order in this coun
ty, for each day we hear complaint® of
just such depredations. By reason of our
peculiar farming interest, no law can be
framed to meet the facts In each case; and
therefore tho law, by reason of its univer
sality, is deficient. The farmers lost! more
iu the way of stealing, than any one of
them makes clear in cash after deducting
expenses. Something will have to be done
to stop roguery, or else our fields will
necessarily be abandoned.

It is a man's own fault if he is unhappy
with his wife, in umu cases out of ten. It
is a very exccp||®£|d woman who will not
be all she can bo m an attentive husband,
and a more exceptional one who will not
be very disagreeable if she finds herself
willfully neglected. It would be very easy
to hate a man who, having bound a woman
to him, made no effort to make her hap
py-hard not to love one who was con
stant and tender; and when a woman
loves, she always strives to please. The
great men of this world have often been
wretched in their domestic relations, while
mean and common men have been exceed
ingly happy. Tho reason is very plain.
Absorbed in themselves, those who de
sired tho world's applause wore careless
of the little world at home; while those
who had none of the egotism strove to
keep tho hearts that were their own, ami
were happy in their tenderness. No wo
man will love a man the better for being
renowned or prominent. Though he be
first among men, she will only lx* prouder,
not fonder; and if she loses him through
this renown, as is often the case, she will
not even bo proud. But give her love,
appreciation, and kindness, and there is
no sacrifice she would not make for his
content and comfort. Tho man who loves
her well, is her hero and her king—no less
a hereto her, though ho is not one to any
other; no less a king, though his only
kingdom is her heart and homo.

“Will you bo my morning lark?” he In

"Whoare you. sir?" she gasped, looking
from him to the other two passengers;
“Name's Higbv, ma’am, and will you be
my sparrow?"
“Protect mo, sir?" she asked of one of
the passengers.
“If you say another word to that lady
I'll knock your head off!" exclaimed the
passenger, doubling his fists.
“Not a word—not another word," replied
tho beuk-nosed man, waving his hand

WITHOUT A PARALLEL.
The demand for Dr. J. Brad field's Fe
i male Regulator Is beyond precedent in
the annals of popular remedies. Orders
come In so thick and fast that the Propri
etor has, heretofore been unable to till
them all. Ho is happy to state that ar
rangements are now complete by which
j he is prepared to manufacture Female
\ Regulator on a scale equal to the ernor-
I gency, and the public may feel assured
j that their wants may now be supplied.
Physicians of high repute are using this
1 great remedy. In daily practice, all over
Georgia. Hereafter no woman need suf
fer from suppressed, suspended or irreg
ular menstruation. This vafoable medi
cine is prepared by L. H. Bradtield, Drug
gist, Atlanta, Ga., and sold at $1.50 per
bottle by druggisus throughout America

: Messrs. SradfieUi 3' Oi.:
j Gentlemen—You will please ship us an
j other supply of your invaluable Female
Regulator, and forward bill by mail. We
i are happy to state that this remedy gives
I better satisfaction than any article we
seli. We have been selling it since 1868,
and witnessed many remarkable cures by
it. Among others, there was a lady
friend of ours who was sallow and sickly
until she was twenty-six years old, when
she was married. Her husband lived two
yuars aud dkxi. Shu continued In *>au
health; in fact, she has never been what j
a woman ought to be. A few months
after the death of her husband she saw
your advertisement, and came to our
store and bought a bottle of your Regula
tor from us, and took it according to di
rections. It has cured her sound and
well, brought her regular monthly peri
ods cvn, and to-day she is ft hearty, bloom
ing widow—with the use of but two bot
tle© of your Regulator, costing her only
three dollars, when she had tried several
physician© and ©pent a great dual of
money without any benefit. Wishing you
groat success with your valuable reme
dies, we are, respectfully yours, etc.,
