fact that when tbe reciprocating en

The faot that the builders of the
Turbiniaand Viper have designed an
ocean liner to oroas the Atlantic in
three days would teem to indicate that
they hate confidence in .their ability
to fulli 1 all of the claims originally
made for the steam turbine propelled
vessels.' Lieutenant Norton includes
in his report a letter from Mr. Par
sons containing a comparison of tbe
United H ates torpedo boat destroyers
now building and tbe two British
steam turbine torpedo boat destroyers,
in which some remarkable differences
are shown, M'. Parsons says: I no
tice in the United S’ates destroyers a
horse-power of 8000 is spec fled with a
total weight of bending of 190 tons.
In our destroyers we have guaranteed
9,500 aod expect to resob 12,000 horse
power, with total weight of heading
100 tons. Our boilers are about 10 per
cent lees both in beating and grate
surface than yours.”
The United States builders of vea
nels wil 1 , however, yet catoh up with
England and surpass their best build

commerce and finance.

Before Judge Jefferson D. Sparks,
in Glynn City oourt, there has been
on|trial for acme weeks a number of
oases against alleged oyster poachers,
and if half of tbe evidence brought out
should be oonclUßively proven in the
eyes of the law, It ia more than prob
able that tbe people ot this State would
be aatounded at tbe extensive thieving
that is going on under the direction of
many men from Florida and around
Savannah, who seem to be at the head

It fa asserted now, with fair means
of proving came, that some of llie
thieves have stated that the waters of
Glynn and Camden yielded them a
revenue of over ten thousand dollars
last year, and this year they expected
togetaamuob again, but for tbe in

It has been such a net work or oases
that all the panel* of jurors Jmve b’en
exhaus'ed, and court h-.d to adj turn
at one time to get new jurors, while
frequently two and three juries are
out at one time or on cases. Bel citor
Colson, as prosecuting attorney, is
convicting some and bringing out evt

seems to be do doubt that tbe robbery
of oyster lands in Glynn (and Camden
Are reaching up into the thousands an

should be severely bandied.
