A NEGRO CONFERENCE.
Tbe oolored people of Maoon have
determined to bold in thie city next
September a great coaferenoe of tbeir
raoe, paralleling '.be reoent cooferenoe
held in Montgomery, Alt.
The object Is to discuss tbe condition
of tbe raoe, and Its relations to its
surroundings in tbe South. Mtny of
the prominent leaders will bain at
tendance. Arrangements will be made
fir their accommodation.
The project ii a good ont. The ne
groes baring the proceeding* of the
Montgomery oonferenoe before them,
ahould be able to make an Intelligent
reeponse. They owe it to themeelree
to do *O. They bare arrived at that
juncture when they muit oboose be
tween the Washington* and Wrigbte,
who are preaobing induatrial educa
tion on the one band, and those who
are striving to lead them into false
paths. The proposed conference oan,
unquestionably,be produotlveof much
good. The negroes should now deter
mine what leaders they purpose to fol
low. Prof. Wright, of the Georgia
Industrial Institute at Savannah, has
announced that he has abandoned pol
itios forever. A word from him should
have great weight with the ooofirenoe.
The white people of the South, who
have done eo moth for tlje radk of ne
gro education, are ready euptfortera of
thoae negro leaders who are striving
to further the educational advantages
which the negroes now enjoy . This
has always been their attitude, and it
will be maintained.
The negroes will have a great oppor
tunity in thia conference to set them
selvae right before the country. Their
declaration* will receive the most at
tentive consideration. In some re
spects, the oonferenoe, if wisely guided,
will be of even greater importance
than that which orourred at Mont
gomery, for it will be able to deolare
the aotual aepiratlons of the race au
thoritatively, and thus go before the
tribunal of public opinion.—Mtoon

This most aggravating and tormenting of all skin diseases is caused by an acid condition of $ jg tm
the blood, ar.d unless relieved through certain instrumentalities too much ™
fOw of this acid poison reaches the skin and it be#rmes red and inflamed. The itching and burning are

mSSaST This burning, itching humor appears sometimes in little pustules, discharging a stick v fluid which
forms crusts and scales. Again the skin is dry, hard aud fissured, itches intensely, bleeds aud scabs over
i This is a painful and stubborn form of the disease.
RfL_ While Eczema, Tetter, Erysipelas, Salt Rheum and many like troubles are sicken of as diseases of
.A j jS the skin, they are really blood diseases, because
THERE CAM BE NO EXTERNAL IRRITATION
WITHOUT AN INTERNAL CAUSE.
TOTBppPjHfipiFr'J'- If the blood is in a pure, healthy condition, no poisonous elements can reach the skin.
External applications of washes, lotions and salves sometimes mitigate the itching and sooth* the
inflammation, but cannot reach the disease. Only S. S. S., the real blood medicine, can do thia.
S. S. S„ the only purely vegetable remedy known, is a safe and permanent cure for Eczema and all deep-seated blood and
akin troubles. It goes direct to the seat of the disease, neutralizes the acids and cleanses the blood, re inforces and invigorates
all the organs, and thus clears the system of all impurities through the natural channels; the skin relieved, all inflammation
subsides, and ail signs of the disease disappear.
