NEGRO SHOT
AT EVERETT
One Killed and Another
Wounded
Mil DOES SHOEING.
Conner’s Jury Says Shoot
ing Was in Self
Defense.
A shooting affaAr occurred at Everett
City about y o’clock Wednesday night,
in wbicn one negro wsb Instantly kill
ed and another slightly wounded by
Marshal Robert Thorpe, of that place.
It seems that a crowd of people were
;n fllggiDbothan s sal ion, and in
course of an argument, a general fight
occurred. Robert Porter, tbe negro
who was ki led, fired one shot at the
marshal, and another negro, whose
name is unknown, also shot at Thoipe.
The marshal, in turn, quickly began
shooting. Re only fired twice, but
ooth bullets hit their mark. The first
ball struck Porter just above the
month, and he only lived a few min
utes. The other shot was fired at the
unknown negro, who had run out of the
saloon and was making good his escape
The shot struck him in the right leg,
but did cot atop him, and he has not yet
been captured.
Coroner Jennings, of this city, went
up to the scene of the shooting vester
day morning, and the following ver.
diet was tound by the coroner’s jury,
which was composed of C. C. Crofion
foreman, M. Stephens, M. W. pai
terson, L. B. BsnniUe, F F. Goorje,
and R. D. Rune;:
“We, the jury, find that the deceas

fired by Marshal Robert Thorpe, [ln

ECZEMA'S
ITOH IS TORTURE.
Eczema is caused by an acid humor in
the blood coming in contact with the
skin and producing great redness and in
flammation ; little pustular eruptions form
and discharge a thin, sticky fluid, which
dries and scales off ; sometimes the skin is
hard, dry aud Assured. Eczema in any
form is a tormenting, stubborn disease,
and tbe itching aud burning at times are
almost unbearable; the acid burning
humor seems to ooae out and set the skill
on fire. Salves, washes nor other exter
nal applications do any real good, for as
lonjj ob the poison remains in the blood
it will keep the skin irritated.
