THF SOUTH'S GREAT RESOURCES.
RBV. Dr. Josiah Strong in it roceot
article in Social Service, a New York
magazine, on „The Ntw opportunities
of the South, start* out with the fol-
lowing:
‘,South and north alike are beginning
to wake up to the astonishing resource
es>f the southern states.
"Pig iron oan now bu made in the
south cheaper than anywhere else in
the world That section produced 2’ 500,
000. tons in 18 90, or more than six times
aajmuch as in 1880, Her output of coal
the same year was 40,000 tone, or near
ly seven times as muoh as in 1880. Her
phosphates are euric lng the south
while they fertilize the north, and tbeir
production has incrsasuU nearly s xfold
in as many years. And what shall we
say of the oil wells of Texts, when a
single gusher’ flows from 25,000 to 00,
000 barrels in ajeingle day? . These are
sourous of wealth unu-iiized by the oid

The people of Ware cuuuly re going
tore-elect Hon, W. M. Toomer to the
legislature.
In this the people of Ware are dis*
playing their usual good judgment. Mr.
Toomer has brains end he knows how
to apply them—he has courage to he k
the dictates of his conrniencs ard soj
far as we aroto judge by hi* past record
he does not err in his representations of.
the peoples interests.
It is a stP 1 remembered fact that a a
member of thsl ail important commit
tee- the btcc inK committee—of the
last boose Mr, Toomer raised hi voice
and cast his v jte against any arrange
ment of the calendar which would pre
cipitate that body into su extra session.
By this action he was largely instru
ments! in saving the tax payers of the
elate at largo a great deal of money.
We do not know how Mr. Toomer
represents the interests of his own
particular constituency because that is
a matter between htmsulf and his own
people— but we do koow that as one of
the reven members ot the steering
committee and as a legislator voting on
all public questions to the best interests
of the state tax payers as a whole he
proved one of the beet members of the
ower house of representatives.
Judged by this standard, therefore,
we feel safe in asserting that he bee
satisfied his own particular constituency

m COMPLEXION.
The skin is the sent of an almost end
less variety of diseases. They are known
by various names, but are all due to the
same cause, acid and other poisons in
the blood that irritate and interfere with
the proper action of the skin.
To have a smooth, soft skin, free from
all eruptions, the blood must be kept pure
and healthy. The many preparations of
arsenic and potash and the large number
of face powders and lotions generally
used in this class of diseases cover up
for a short time, but cannot remove per
manently the ugly blotches and the red,
disfiguring pimples.
EiernaS vifjiianco is the price
of a hcGutiial complexion
when such remedies are relied on.
Mr. H. T. Shobe, 2704 Lucas Avenue, St. I,ouis,
Mo., sriya : “ My daughter was afflicted for years
with a disfiguring eruption on her face, which
refisted all treatment. She was taken to two
celebrated health springs, but received no bene
fit. Many medicines were presented, but with
out r*stilt, until we decided to try S. S. S., and by
the time the first bottle v as finisned the eruption
began to disappear, A dozen bottles cured het
completely and left her skin perfectly smooth.
She is now seventeen years old, and not a sign of
the embarrassing disease has ever returned.”
S. S. S. is a positive, unfailing cure for
the worst forms of skin troubles. It is
the greatest of all blood purifiers, and the
only one guaranteed purely vegetable.
Bad blood makes bad comp^.ions..
makes new, rich blood
that nourishes th^e
skin active and healthy and in propet
condition to perform its part towards
carrying off the impurities from the body.
If you have Eczema, Tetter, Acne, Salt
Rheum, Psoriasis, or your skin is rough
and pimply, send for our book on Blood
and Skin Diseases and write our physi
cians about your case. No charge what
ever for this service.

Karble Statue Comas to Life.
At the Inter-State Fair in Atlanta
this year, opening, on October 9ch, one
of the most remarkable illusions of the
century will be shown. This is the
turning 60 life of a marble statue of a
beautiful woman.
First the statue is shown to the
audience, then in lull view of the on
lookers it fades away into a huge mound
of flowers, then instantly the statue
reappears and while the gaze of every
one is concentrated on it there is grad
ually seen the coming qf, life. First
comes the faint flush of the fresh tint
in face, arms and shoulders, then grad
ually the statue begins to breathe and
at last turns and smiles at the audience.
This feature has puzzled thousands
everywhere it has been shown ana is
expected to draw vast crowds at the
Atlanta Fair.
