All Brunswick is interested in ban*

a whole Brunswick in the past hast
been torn by political contentions and

Since the first taietingof the commit

committee of tweaty as being sui able
for the mass meeting to endorse.
Ia aooordanoe with the request from
the last mentioned oommive . there
was a joiat meeting of tbe two com
mittees yesterday and it was under
stood that perhaps acme mutual agree

result in the withdrawing of all narnia

Previous, however, to the joint meet
lag there was a masting of the com
mutes named by the original twenty
aud tha following resolution was adopt,
ed to present to tbe joint meeting
The joint meeting was composed of
Messrs, F, D Aiken, R K, Hopkins
and Constant Miller from the original
twenty, and Messrs. D. W Kraus*, R
E. Guy aud J. R. Kolbb from the Tues
day night meeting.
No definite agreement wai arrived at
as the committee of tbe three last nam
ed gentlemen desired to disonss the
resolution as presented to them. This
resolution reads:
Whereas, in the oomlng municipal
eleotior, there appearing almost a oer
taint; of a heated oontest between tbe
Law and Order League and those op
posed to said order, and
p Wuereae, an Informal meeting was
held in tbe City Halt on Ootober 11th,
wbiob meeting consisted of twenty
representative oitiiens, who, fully
realizing the disastrous bffeot Much con
test would have on tbe prosperity o‘
tbe oity, and whose sole object being
the selection of four conservative busi
ness men for aldermen, reprenting all
the different classes of business, and
tbe fee'iog being unanimous at ibis
meeting ihat harmony of action would
be better ob ained by osiling a mtn
meeting of tbe oit zees to seleot these
men, appointed a committee for tbie
purpose, and who, In pursuance of sucb
instructions, have issued a call for a
mass meeting to be held Friday night,

Whereas, tbe Law and Order League
have suggested a ticket and now re
quest this commit'ee to discuss tbe ad
visability of a p'Unary instead of a
mass meeting,
Be it resolv-d, that tbis committee
being only appointed for tbe parpom
of oalling a mass meeting bas no other
power; but that, inasmuch as a prim
ary would engender tbe same feelings
and strife as would an eieotion, and it
being tbe object of tbe meeting by
which this oommUioe was appoluted to
prevent if possible a oontest, and cred>

only good intentions in their efforts to
seleot a ticket, we respectfully invite
them to participate in tbe coming masi
meeting, thereby, not only preventing
possibility of a oonfliot, perhaps snob
as witnessed by Bavanuab last week,
but shearing harmony amongst onr
ci’izans.”
la a conversation last night with a
Times Call reporter Mr Kraues stated
that an erroneous impression had gone

out by the Law and Older League
Mr. Krauas states that while Eorne of
the gent’emen at tbe meeting were
perhaps members of the Law and
Order League, that organization did
not pnt out the ticket and it is desired
that tbe publio so understand.
Still Differ in Opinions,

An Appeal.—A Primary is the Only Fair
Method,
aw
To the Citizens of Brunswick*
Our committee conferred with the
committee of those who oalled a mass
meeting for Friday night; an 1 they
urged that every white voter in Bruns
wick be given a voice in the nominat
ion of an aldermanlc ticket. That com
mittee deolined to agree to submit tbe
nomination to a white primary
Wo want every white voter to have a
part in this nomination , and we are
j perfec ly willing to abide the result of
such primary,
The pe .pie are competent to nominate
those whom they want, and we have an
abiding fal b in our people
Mass meetings are the tools of cl ques
and a few can and do control such
gatherings; besides this in Brunswi k
tn r<? is no hall large enough to hold all
those who are en tiled to a voioe iu this
