TO THE PUBLIC.
In .ursnance to request of tbe McKinley
National Memorial Association whose
statement to the public is published in
another ooiumn in this paper, we take
this method of calling the attention of the
people ot Brunswick to tbe subject and to
ask their eo-operation in this very lauda
ble undertaking.
It is tbe purpose of tbe Association as
defined in tbe certificate of incorporation
to erect and maintain at Canton, Ohio, a
suitable memorial to the late president,
and to raise tbe i ecessary funds for that
purpose by popular subscription. As
stated by tbe Board of Trustees of the
association “the memorial is to be in the
highest sense the sincere expression of all
the people of the country of their love for
President McKinley and of their admira
tion for the qualities expressed so emi
nently in hie life and deeds.” As they also
xor ess it “It is the purpose to have tbe
offerings of tbe people voluntary with a
full opportunity to all to contribute.”
Feeling confident that the people of
Brunswick, who have shown that their
love for the late president and their grief
over the tragic ending of his noble career
was sb sincere and heartfelt as that which
found expression elsewhere throughout
our stricken land, will desire to participate
in this great national undertaking, we do
not hesitate to ask in behalf ot the associa
tion, their hearty co-operation.
The following well known citizens of
Brunswiok have been selected as a com
mittee to receive contributions in behalf
of the association; N Emanuel. C Down
ing, W. G. Brantley, C. P. Goodyear, F. D.
Aiken, M. Kaiser, W. E Kay, A. J. Crovatt,
E H. Mason, H. T. Dunn.
The name and poetoffiee address of each
contributor will be forwarded to the
treasurer of the association, with the fund
remitted for preservation in the arohivesof
the association, and each contributor to
the fund will receive from the assooiation
a souvenir certificate which will be
worthy of preservation as evidence of the
holder.: participation in the work.
The National Bank of Brunswick and
.be Brunswick Bank and Trust Cos., will
receive on behalf of tbe committee such
contributions as the people of Brunewick
may desire to make and forward the same
promptly to the Treasurer of the Associa
tion. HenbtT. Bo**,
