A Called Meeting Held Yesterday
Morning.
CALL MEETING.
Brunswiok, Ga., Nov. 25, 1901.
Present—Hon. N. Emanuel, mayor.
Aldermen du Bignori, Newman, Cox,
Smith and MoGarvey.
Absent—Aldermen Calhoun, Blood
worth and Brieseniok.
The mayor stated the object of the
oall. The following resolution was
read:
By Alderman du B.gnoi.—
Whereas, under a rsaolncion passed
by this body on Augß, 1901, authorizing
the borrowing of forty-dye thousand
dollars with wbioh to pay the out
standing fliating iodtb sdiiesa due by
the mayor and counoil, only the sum of
twenty five thousand dollars has been
borrowed, five notes for the sum of five
thousand dollars each having lyi)
exeouted lor said anm, moh nffles
bearing interest at the rate of live Wat
centum per annum; and
Wheseas, It is impossible to borrow
the balance of said sum at a less rate of
interest than six per centum perannum:
Now’, therefore b a it, and it is here
by, resolve I, by ihe mayor and aider
men of the oity of Brunswiok in ooudoil
assembled, That the mayor be, and tie
is hereby, authorized to borrow the sum
of twenty thousand dollars, bearing
not more than six per oentam per
annum interest, and to exeome four
notes for five thousand dollars each for
said sum, such notes to mature at
various times between Nov 1, ’9Ol, and
Novi 1, 1903; such notes to be in lien of
the four notes unoegotia’ed, authorised
by said resolution on Aug. 8, and
which were to be payable, two fifteen
moDtbs after date, ooe eighteen men tbs
after date and one twenty-four months
after date,
. Be it further resolved that four sep
erate resolutions be passed authorizing
the borrowing of said sum. Adopted.

tbe mayor and aldermen of the city of
Brunswick in council assembled, that
tbe mayor be, and he is hereby, au
thorized to borrow on behalf and in the
name of the mayor and council of the
oity of Brunswick, the sum of five
thousand dollars, for the purpose of
paying a valid and legal indebtedness
of tbe oity.

be payable within Twelve months after

The fire alarm yesterday morning
was caused by a small blaze on the
roof of the house ocoupied by George
Hawlston on B street. It was put out
before the firemen had time to reach
