Yesterday was ohiidren’s day at the
Catholio fair and the little ones were
present in numbers. Tbey bad a good
time, ton, plaing with tbe toys in tbe
doll booib and leaning on tbe good
things dispensed at tbe fair.
Last night the attendance was un.
ÜBQBlly large and the members of the
Naval Militia were oat in foroe. The
prize drill partiaipated in bjr this
popular company was the speolal
attraction of the evening and many
friends of the navies were present to
witness it.
The exhibition drill was very interest
ing. After a number cf commands from
the manual of arms bad been executed
and the numb rof men left drilling
had dwit died down to six. the com
mand "right drees” was given ard
followed by “shoulder arms.” This
was a catoh command as the maouai
of arms cannot be executed exoept
after the command •‘front’’ is given,
and it caught all who were left except
Mr. Joseph C, Bailey, who wae declar
ed the winner of the handsome gold
medal.

The John 8, Sparks sircus will atrike
town today vnd pitch their tent in
Magnolia park. Two preformancee
will ba given ona this afternoon and
one tonight and the low prioe of ad
mission will likely result ia a large
number attending each.
The show is said to be very good one
and to contain many very excellent
features, iir. Sparks makes it his
special duty to preserve such order and
to oonduet snob a show as will attract
women and children, They are not
only safe in every respect, bat special
features are introduced to entertain
them, In doing this, first, sarnpalous
ordtr it maintained within tha tent
and nothing is permitted outside which
will provoke disorder, They go to the
show assured of be'ng entertained and
with a certainty that they will be safe,

Prominent Savannahian Jumps Overboard

New York Nov. 39 —Frank E. Kell
baoh of Savannah, Gv, who embarked
Tuesday evening on the Chattahoo
obee, wbioh arrived here yesterday,
was missed at the table on Tuesday
morning. Hie room steward knocking
at his door fourd it locked from the
outside, with the window open in his
stateroom, where two letters address
ed to bis parents and marked “Through
the kindness of the steward,” were
foond. Captain Lewis instituted a
thorough Siarob of the ship, and the
footmarks on the ship e rail outside of
Keilbacb’a window left no doubt that
the unfortunate man had jump and over
board some time between II o'clook
Wednesday and Thursday morning,
while rounding Cape Hatteras.

zen of Savannah where be lived since
childhood. For eaven'een years he
was connected with the ofiloe of ordin
ary of Chatham oouDty and was presi
dent of the Citizen’s lovestm ent Com

Train No. 14 on the Southern due
her* at 7:10 yesterday morning was
delayed seven hoars on aoooaat of the
train from Atlanta running off tbe
traek. Tbe accident oocorred up near

the track.

Turner makes the following statement:
