This Fireworks Fanatic is ready for
July 4! We have lived on St. Simons
for 42 years and I only remember
being away on July 4 twice - once an
extra special event in Washington DC
after visiting Boston and Philadelphia
with our young family and once when
we went to Happyhaus and went to
Helen for fireworks. Beth has tried
Atlanta a couple of times but we all
agree that if you grow up with fire
works at the Pier then no other place
will do! All our little people will be
here for the weekend but Piper, Avery
and Will Riley have to go home on
Sunday. Emily and Galen will stay for
a few more days to play on the beach
and enjoy our beloved island.

In the midst of fun and fireworks
we are reminded that we are celebrat

older than any of us! We are so greatly
blessed to live in the land of the free
and the home of the brave.
GOD BLESS AMERICA. □
Brunswick's neediest neighborhoods to get facelift
Sacrificing summer fun and pay
ing jobs, 298 junior high and high
school students will be hard at work
on a week-long refurbishment and
construction project in Brunswick,
July 19 through July 26.
“World Changers,” an initiative of
the North American Mission Board
(Southern Baptist Convention) in
partnership with the Southeast
Baptist Association and the City
of Brunswick Community Develop
ment, will work in several Bruns
wick low-income neighborhoods to
paint houses, replace roofs, and pro
vide hope to area residents in need.
The students come from all across
the United States.
This summer more than 22,000
students nationwide will forgo sum
mer jobs and instead pay $260, on
average, to participate in 95 con
struction and community service
projects from Alaska to Pennsylvania
to South Carolina.
Following a six-session, pre-proj
ect “how-to” study, students serving
Brunswick will take part in a variety
of home improvement and cleanup
tasks-including painting, hanging
sheetrock, repairing roofs, pouring
cement, and planting flowers. The
students will stay at Jane Macon
Middle School for the week. □
