at McIntosh Art Center
Award winning oil art
ist, Michael Reibel opens
his solo exhibit Friday
April 3 at the Old Jail
Art Center in Darien. The
body of the work that will
be displayed is inspired
by McIntosh crabber
Michael Vernon.
Reibel, a Kentucky
resident, has spent count
less horn’s on the water
and in the marsh with the
Miller family of Shellman
Bluff. Last summer he
came to the area to spe
cifically shadow crab
bers and their work.
He made early morn
ing trips behind Michael
Vernon’s boat, Dirty
Deeds II, shooting over
a thousand reference
photos to fully explore
and research his topic.
His paintings of life on
the Julienton River in
McIntosh County cap-
time the solitude, hard
work and beauty of the
crabber’s daily journey
throughout thescenic
waterways.
