Carter donates $3,000 to GICA
On Monday, March 23, Terry Carter (third from left), President of TGC
Properties, presents a $3,000 donation check to Golden Isles Career
Academy (GICA) CEO Andy Lundell inside the horticultural classroom
of the Academy. Attending the check presentation were (left to right)

and Agricultural Education and Tony Thaw, Glynn County Commission

"It is astonishing that the community has worked this well together to
create this project," said Carter. "The Chamber, Board of Education,
Glynn County Commission, and Development Authority have worked
hard to create the Career Academy."
GICA will open in August 2009 for the 2009-2010 school system. A part
nership with Altamaha Technical College in Jesup will provide addi

Shelnutt named VP of HR for Sea Island Co.
Richard D. “Rick”
Shelnutt has been
named Vice President
of Human Resources for
Sea Island Company.
After graduating from
Georgia State Univer
sity, where he studied
hotel and restaurant
management, Shelnutt
originally joined the
company in 1975 as a
management trainee,
working in depart
ments across the company. He moved
to Human Resources in 1978, where
he served in several positions includ
ing Personnel Manager, Director of
Human Resources and
Director of Recruitment and
Retention. From late 2003
until his return to the com
pany, he was a Public Affairs
Specialist at the Federal
Law Enforcement Center in
Brunswick, where his initial
assignment was as official
liaison between FLETC and
Sea Island Company for the
G8 Summit in 2004. He has
been very active in the Glynn
County business communi
ty with the Chamber of Commerce,
Economic Development Authority and
various civic groups. He and his wife,
Renee, have three children. □

opening ceremony for its new Memory
Care Center on Thursday, March 19.
The Memory Care Center at The

Care garden, made possible by the
donation of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hag
